Yeah, why not just call it Z?

Although, that would inevitably lead to arguments over whether it was called Zed, Zee or even Zeta. ;)

Seriously, if Doomscript is no longer liked, I see nothing wrong with calling it ZScript. It does what it says on the tin. It's a scripting language for ZDoom, but it is not Doom specific. Works for me anyway.

Call it "Bacon," just because it doesn't make any sense at all.

Or we could argue some more.

I vote we STFU and let Randy pick. Even though a simple and really plain thing like ZScript would be nice, its ultimately Randy's decision, and he has plenty of names to choose from. Plus the quality and/or seriousnes of the suggestions (apart from Z and Zeus, which are both decent) took a dive a few pages ago.

Zed, zee, zeta... that is not very helpful. After all, I could speak "bacon" quite different, e.g. Latin-style (making it sorta "bahcohn"), and we'd have the same debate again.

So, if it finally gets a name, Randy is urged to provide a -- the one and only -- pronounciation key too.

  • ZASIC: Zdoom All-purpose Instruction Code
  • ZMDL: Zdoom Map Description Language
  • SRAC: Script Reckoning And Compiling
Some semi-creative ideas based on other language names I liked (BASIC, VHDL and TRAC)

I don't, because I pronounce Z as "zed" (or "zett", but that's the norwegian version of it)

Hey I'm English, but I still call ZDoom by its intended American pronounciation. It's how it's meant to be, I don't see why theres a debate? ZEE DOOM!

I still think it really doesn't matter how you pronounce it...

(Though ZedDoom sounds better to me :D)

Nonsense.

I don't even pronounce 'z' separately, so it's more like ZzzDoom to me.
