1. For those who can stand typing names without fear of being word raped by its members, again, its Doomworld.
2. This just in. Nobody gives a rats ass about what flamewars are going on there (correction: nobody should).
3. This also just in. dron has talked about his project, albeit not nearly as much as KDiZD has been discussed. Also, bashing is a regular occurance, especially with KDiZD. One would have thought you had learned to deal with it.
On much nicer notes; it appears that KDiZD is progressing rather well (from the look of both threads) and that it may be finished, despite all the interesting controversy, at its estimated date.
Also, hasn't this music thing been brought up before? IIRC numerous times it has been stated, or alluded to, the fact that we will be able to dl the music seperate. Confirmation that this is still the case?

Oh, I have learned to deal with it, believe me. I'm just curious (genuinely!) to know why many of the people who believe that hyping your project is not allowed, deem maligning another team's project and even personally insulting the team members to be permissable. To me, not being allowed to engage in the former seems to suggest not being allowed to engage in the latter as well.
I'm not trying to start another flame fest or anything, like I said I am genuinely curious why someone would think like this.

Since NiGHTMARE's post was, well, I won't go into it (but I liked it), I'll give an honest, no Hobbs-is-being-a-bastard reply (for once).
I think the whole thing stems from the fact that, well, for a while, KDiZD was overhyped (and not always by the team, remember deathz0rs "hype your inferior mod because KDiZD rules" or whatever thread). As such people are damn tired of hearing about it. So the project is bashed in retaliation to the hype. Also, dron and edward are so anti-KDiZD its hardly not to be expected (grammar alert) for them to post a bash and flame about KDiZD or any team member when the topic comes up. Other people feel strongly enough about it now to do the same, for their own reasons.
EDiTAGE: NiGHTMARE, thanks for that.

I totally disagree. It's one of the few projects that I've played through more than once. And that's equal to me giving it a gold star.Nightmare Doom wrote:Doomworld is very hypocritical when it comes to Scuba Steve prancing around and hyping to everyone about Action Doom (Action Doom was extremely overated and it sucked nothing but whale semen)
If I may be so bold as to TRY to answer you, why people have reacted the way they did towards your hype and not at all the same way as towards the Action Doom hype.
Action Doom's hype was very obviously a tounge in cheek remark at the old marketing methods of games from the time it was taking inspiration. People really found fun in it and got on the bandwagon and participated in contests and crap.
For KDIZD it was coming off like a complete opposite to Action Doom. You were acting as you were taking yourself and the hyping 100% serious and like you actually thought you were better than everyone else. People didn't catch much of it as jokes. There were these promos posted in the FanFic/Art forum on DW that amassed some positive responce. But aside from that people took you all very serious in your claims that you were besting id with your mod. And when you replied to critics almost exclusively by telling them that you know best because you got Nick and Risen on your team. That only distance you further from the average forum retard. Except here of course where "praise the whatever" is a common occurance.
Even if you claimed that you all were very "ha-ha" about your hyping, it didn't come off as you were trying to be funny. And by the time you started claiming so, people just figured you tried to find an escape from the criticism.
Then there's the facts of the project aswell. Everyone seem to be focused to make the maps as big and detailed as possible. For some reason you seem to have as an important goal to have a bigger filesize, sector count and linedef count than RTC-3057. IMO that's just bloatware.
Action Doom offered something new along with great new designs and graphics, I don't consider KDIZD to do that. Atleast not from what I've seen so far.
Anyway, that's how I've seen this entire situation.
