MAPS - using ZDoom to make art

Post by Scientist »

Eleven years ago, I collaborated with several musicians on a project called MAPS for an art festival. Using ZDoom I created a video for their live performance. Now, after 11 years, both the music and the video have been released. Since I originally made the video in ZDoom, I've developed a playable version of the music video. You can now either watch the video or freely explore the world of MAPS yourself!

You can find more information and download and play MAPS here:

Would you look at that! I first thought upon seeing this that this was a Thomas van der Velden thing, but nope, its Roland :)

That is a really sick application of ZDoom you used! Using it as a video outlet for a live concert and then making it a game. I love the use of game engine technology for less usual applications. Totally should get a DW thread too and its a standalone game to boot!

PS: Is the 2013 modified ZDoom fork also available? I'd love to know what was modified to support this kind of thing.
