Cramunhão, a Sigil Tribute

Post by Ravick »

Hi there!

Cramunhão is a tribute to John Romero's Sigil. It replaces the 4th episode of The Ultimate Doom.

About the mod:

Inspired by the works of John Romero on Sigil, it started out as a single maps contest emulating the mechanics of Sigil, but ended up evolving into a full episode community  project. It has contributions from well known mappers such as Daniel (NeoDoom, Final NeoDoom) and Deadwing (Ozonia, Moonblood), just as newcomers like Sca, who has made his first map ever for this mod (and also one inspired in the hospital his first son was born, at that very day).

The mappers were told to make use of Sigil's mechanics such as shooting or reaching Evil Eyes to open level progression, or use Skull Rocks as teleport markers, but they were free to express their own style in the maps. So expect references to Romero's Sigil here and there, but also very unique experiences along the episodie. If you have played the map Anhangá, for example, this is the mod that map was made for.

The mod was made trying to be compatible with the most source ports possible. It was tested in PrBoom+, DSDA, ZDoom, GZDoom, QZDoom, LZDoom, Odamex, Zandronum, QZandronum, Delphi Doom, Retro Doom, Boom 2.02, Eternity Engine and ZDaemon. The youtuber LadyMistDragon also recorded a sample of the mod using Nugget Doom. It is also doable in PrBoom or Crispy Doom, but some aesthetic features (just like different skies and a couple of cosmetic Boom's commands) will be lost. It is also in Doom+Doom2's mod deck.

The maps have all been made pistol start compatible, and we'd encourage players to do it, if they so desire. Also, there is support for co-op gameplay and skill settings.

The mod was uploaded to the idgames archives half a month ago, but we didn't announce it in a proper topic because we were trying to fix some bugs int the mod's menu that only appeared in Doom+Doom2 source port. (We actually didn't realize we could just upload it discreetly in Doom+Doom2's mod deck and test it there before releasing it ^^'.) A week later, a newer version with some minor bug fixes was uploaded to idgames, so if you have downloaded the older version (the one with a glitch character in its name), please update it. (Oh, and, by the way, we've sent the second version without the tilde in its name in order to avoid the character glitch, but the idgames team kindly fixed it for us and were able to keep the name with the tilde without the glitch character, which was much appreciated for us - Thank you! :D )

However, this time, you are not Doomguy. You are someone else...

Thats weird. :o

What source port are you using? Did you download the mod from IDgames or BrDoom?

I've downloaded the idgames file here and tested in Crispy Doom, but I couldn't reproduce this bug.

Was it before I made this thread in the forums? The mod was updated in idgames archives a week after it was first released, with some bugfixes. One of them was in this stairs in your screenshot, but the effect was different (all the ceilings in the Witch of 71's house went down). I see now that uploading that early version was a mistake.

I tested it again here in GZDoom but I could not reproduce the bug. Please consider downloading it again. :)
