Are there any British railway experts out there who know why Crossrail is part of TfL and not National Rail? I know it was funded by TFL and DFT, and now run by TfL; my question is why? Why wasn't it solely NR like it was originally expected to be? Why involve TFL, apart from accepting Oyster in the fare zones?
Or if anyone knows a link to an explanation, please may I have it?
Brits: Anyone know why Crossrail was given to TFL?
