alekksandar's VR guns is a mod for the VR players of DOOM, replacing the default sprites with fitting 3d models.
NOTICE 12 SEP 2023 - this mod was made for QuestZDoom on SideQuest, so the weapons might seem off if used in a different client... I will try to rectify that and have the weapons be scaled and offset correctly for the desktopVR users, when I have the time.

If you plan on using this mod without VR, bear in mind that it has been developed for VR in mind - so there might be visual issues such as the ironsights being in the way and the jarring lack of hands holding the weapons...
Also - here's a tip: Type 'wbobfire 1' in the console so that the model doesn't snap back to the middle of the screen every time you reload or shoot!

NOTES:
- This mod was developed on GZDOOM 4-5-0. I recommend using the smooth doom mod with this mod. It looks sweet.
- The mod has been tested in the sidequest VR doom app. The Desktop VR mode hasn't been tested yet.
- There's 3 starting weapon options: Pistol, Revolver, Rifle. Have fun!
- Unpolished, might come back to it some time later. But it's generally finished.

Pretty nice! I'll test this once the summer ends. I can't wear the headset for more than 5 minutes in this heat :(

Oh shi damn that's amazing!! Plus the fact that we can play Doom in VR, the sound effects, animation and weapons models are nicely detailed!

Now these games are getting really realistic, if you know what i mean :P

Very nice work, M'man. Would be improved by some actual object manipulation (extra grab points, actual reloading guff) but hey, it is what it is.

not bad, I wish, the controller shape looks better on "weapon" when I look it and compere game with real life hand and Quest controller, if you know what I mean

Impressive work. I like the gun models with nice chunky looking textures. Keep it up.

Usually positioning the gun models depend on the mods, nut you can always edit the modeldef to fix the ZOffset yourself. I'm also working on a GZDoomVR fork where you'll be able to adjust the gun position in the hand

how do I angle these weapons so they can be playable in non-vr doom?

Check the OP again, I updated it and added a new download link with non-vr mod. It lowers the guns to the lower middle of the screen like in the OG doom, and adds back the weapon bobbing.

Just tried the Non-VR version, it seems to be the same file uploaded as the VR version

these are probably the best VR weapons i've seen so far. many thanks for making them, alekksandar! :thumb:

here are some suggestions for improvement:

- as kind of a purist, i'd really like a version with the vanilla sounds. would it be possible for you to make them optional, or provide a package without them?
- imho some weapons feel a bit smaller than they should. especially the chainsaw, chaingun and the plasma rifle. the rocket launcher could also be a bit larger.
- the chaingun looks rather different from the vanilla sprite. imho the barrels sould be bigger and longer, and the rear part smaller.
- what i've really come to appreciate in VR are bullet tracers (as in Ermac's weapon pack: https://github.com/iAmErmac/Universal_D ... Weapons_VR). that would also be a great addition to your pack.

i think an angled addon would be alot of fun for the desktop version!
