Re: Welcome to the ZDoom forums <--READ FIRST OR YOU'RE AN I
It's too bad some board leaders are too dense not to realize that certain policies and views (e.g. "NECROBUMPS ARE ALWAYS BAD") are complete garbage. Or maybe they do it on purpose so they get a chance to pull their weight. It's a conspiracy, I say!

Necrobumps are usually bad because the bumper does not offer anything new to the discussion. That is the case about 80% of the time.

I have to ask, though - where is the line drawn between necrobumping an old topic, and creating a new (duplicate) topic?

What irks me is the 20% of the time the thread is autolocked anyway at places like ZU. Mods are usually smarter than to blindly follow these sorts of rules.wildweasel wrote:Necrobumps are usually bad because the bumper does not offer anything new to the discussion. When information should be centralized. Topic subscription notifications exist for a reason, and usually that is to alert people to topics they are actually interested in, especially if they are slow discussions.I have to ask, though - where is the line drawn between necrobumping an old topic, and creating a new (duplicate) topic?

Personally I evaluate that on a case by case basis. There's no "line" in the usual sense.jimmy91 wrote:I have to ask, though - where is the line drawn between necrobumping an old topic, and creating a new (duplicate) topic?

Graf Zahl's version of ZDoom. Contains an OpenGL renderer, 3D-floors and FraggleScript (so it makes roughly 99% of all Legacy maps more or less compatible with it). Home page here.

So there hasn't been much activity on this thread in years, but I found it too funny, and wanted to point out, that the liquid_paper_dk link to click on about where Jesusing / Jesusifying comes from only takes you to a page that says "The requested user does not exist." How very existential of you. HAHAHA

" <--READ FIRST OR YOU'RE AN IDIOT "
That is highly inappropriate and it could scare some newcomers from joining this forum.
Some people might just want to read some topics without posting anything (lurkers), so they think that they do not need to read welcoming thread... and you are calling them idiots just because of that.

They think they don't. But they need to. Sokoro, pls.
I actually didn't read it first, and I'm don't feel called at.

I honestly think the rules in general need rewriting; this old thread probably doesn't even need to be stickied anymore.

It's weird, when I first read this I thought of a docked boat being un-tied and cast to the sea.wildweasel wrote:I honestly think the rules in general need rewriting; this old thread probably doesn't even need to be stickied anymore.

That is a brilliant analogy. Let us all say farewell to the SS Read First or You're an Idiot!Lava Grunt wrote:It's weird, when I first read this I thought of a docked boat being un-tied and cast to the sea.
