If you are playing a game with multiple classes and you have sv_singleplayerrespawn activated, you will respawn as the first class when you die from a loaded save. To replicate this, first start up Hexen, a game that has multiple classes. Next, turn on sv_singleplayerrespawn and save a game as either Parias (Cleric) or Daedolon (Mage). Finally, quit GZDoom, load the save file, and type "kill" into the console. When you respawn, you'll be Baratus (Fighter) and have the weapons you had previously from your save. It may not look like it, so you should type "chase" into the console to verify that you became Baratus after dying.

This is by design. The CVAR is considered a cheat.
