for widescreen I use hexen_widescreen_v2-wad. All weapons looks correrctly in 16:9. I do not know where I found this but titlepic in 16:9/21:9 I may do...
The mod on the link that I gave is about the same. But in your mod it looks like this:

Try this wad... I do not know who made this I only share ... Is not 100% perfect and hand is little bigger than in original aspect ratio but without issues. Works good with edited sprites and other mods...
I use only this one for widescreen fixes.

set this wad first under your autoload mods

This method does not work quite correctly.

Yes I know about this but do not know how adjust weapons sprites. In next release will be weapon sprites in standalone pk3 and not togehther with other sprites. This is only hexen problem. Other games has correct weapon sprites after upscaling.

I connected the mods in reverse, i.e. facelift+widescreen and the weapon is not clipped.
I found another problem. On the first level, the red sky is displayed during lightning flashes. The seven portals level displays a blurry red sky.

This is not issue and red sky during lightning flashes is correct. Hexen has this combination during normal gameplay but use different textures and this look strange.I am only made two same textures with different colors. Hexen = two different textures and two different colors. Seven portals use different red sky texture and this texture is not redone for now and you see original lowres skybox. For now are finished only 3 sky textures from 6 or 7... Sky will be completed next release

No. In the original, during lightning flashes, the sky remains blue, only getting brighter. And on seven portals it looks like this:

@vaa44

Thank you for this. Problem is on my side. I used old GzDoom and now try latest version and you are true. For now I am deleted all new sky textures. Download link is updated. Sorry for trouble.

Re: Hexen Facelift (UPDATE 16.5) FIX !!!

Post by Marcelus »

I tried new upscaling method via Waifu. After upscale are monsters indexed with hexen palette. I think result is not bad and it's much faster than mine current method. Edges are not smooth how with DCCI2x plugin but during gameplay is not much see. Result is similar with DCCI but with less blur. No distort shapes or ruined colors how has many AI upscaled packs. During 2 hours I have finished 3 monsters.

In next release will be also textures not only sprites(No HD textures only 2x bigger, some 4x). Some will be new but others upscaled, manualy fixed (especialy seamless) and after editing indexed back to hexen palette. Result is fine. Not much blur (some are still little blured), not distort shapes or colors . Feeling is how from original graphics but without big pixels. Some are little grainy but acceptable. 50% is done.

Ornament on this door after upscaling was very bad.
Ornament on this door is from some HD pack what I have on disk but I do not know who made it. I cut it from HD texture, resize and colorize with hexen palette.

This texture made me very angry :)
This f.....g texture looks bad after upscale and I must do new from scratch.

(UPDATE 14.1 2022)

Hi all,
before new version here is test version. Feedback would be fine :) Monsters are upscaled with same method how I use for doom 64 pack.
Maybe 50% textures are done and 70% sprites. Monsters are ALL. I do not redone many very small sprites because after upscaling do not look good.
All textures are fixed after upscaling and 100% seamless but engine sometimes use textures incorrect but this is game problem not texture.
"New" animated teleport is only in this test version and later will be optional.

HD Font is from Cataflexia

viewtopic.php?t=46465

All other work is mine except ornament texture on brass door/panel.

Those sprites are very small. Only 25x30px. After upscaling and editing looks relative fine.

OUTDATED
