Did this ever happen?
It did, but I tend to release first on Discord, as it's faster for feedback and applying fixes.

Here is 0.82 though which is a lot more compatible with other mods.

Love this mod so far, however the mod only version seems to have a minor sprite issue where the shotgun and hand sprites completely disappear during the last frames of the reload, after the magazine is inserted.
Also, it seems to be prone to freezing and some kind of black world bug in GZDoom 4.11.3, but I am playing with a ton of extra addons, so I'll see if that issue persists without the addons
Yeah, it's not the addons, unfortunately.

Hey thanks, I've got a bug bix update to fix these issues due on 20/4. The shotgun and freezes are in that fix.

One thing I'm not sure on, what is a 'black word' bug?

The entire world with the exception of player sprites will suddenly turn completely black. Not sure what causes it, if it's a conflict between Siren and some of the addons I use, or what. I have no idea how to replicate it, either, so the issue could be entirely unique to me.

This is a great mod. Been having a lot of fun with it and the atmosphere has a very unique feeling to it. I look forward to seeing where the campaign proceeds from here.

Is there any chance this could be made more playable on 4:3 monitors?

Oof. I'll try.

On the things to do list, is make the UI and HUD adhere to scaling, so 4:3 consideration will factor into that.

Game feels incredibly satisfying and tight, but sadly i get frequent CTDs. I'm using DoomLauncher with GZDoom on Linux and every time i leave the room with the first save station, it crashes at the same moment. Happaned also at other locations before.

Aside from that, what's your plan with Siren, are you going for an eventual commercial release or will this stay a free project? I like especially the sense of game-world coherency; it really is more than 'just another space station with alien/demonic outbreak'. The looks, the writing and the music all fit very well together. I am looking forward for more, and if you would decide to sell this, i would gladly buy it.

Re, the crashes, by crash to desktop, I'm guessing you're not getting any error report or crash log. If you do, let me know.

Not being able to leave the first save room isn't good 🤨.

There's been a few approaches to commercialise it, but doing so would suck the enjoyment out of it for me as, that would be a couple of years redoing a lot of the assets including textures, most enemies, weapons etc.

There's major code contributions too, like Zforms & Nash's PDA that are simply beyond the scope of my ability to recreate. Certainly beyond my threshold of enjoyment to do so.

I just want to finish the project, working at my own pace, as this allows me to experiment with new things, some that make it in and so that don't but it's learning something new everyday that makes me enjoy doing this. Sometimes this leads to moments of inspiration where things just click into place - for example, a lot of the lore and immediate narrative of the campaign will have a lot more direction in the next version.

So, the plans are, keep it free. If people want to support it, they can, this will go towards funding voice artists and one major UI system I'd like to do.

The final product will aim to play like an original game, and I should be able to make it 'standalone' at some point.

The main goal is to have people to play it! I'd rather have 1000 people play it for free, than 100 people play it for £9.99.

I like the mod only pack quite a bit, it's very fun, as is the demo.

I find myself wanting to mix the weapons with other monsters, so I was considering using Slade to extricate the weapons into a weapon/only pack.

Very awesome work!

Thanks for the reply. In that case, can i donate somewhere?

And regarding the crash - tried to get a log but suddenly i couldnt reproduce the crash anymore. Not sure what's the cause of that, game run's fine again, so forget that error for now, i guess.

There is a Kofi link for those of generous inclination.

It will all go back into the mod. There's a longer-term goal of a decent inventory UI, but current expenditure is going on voice artists.
