Hm, looking at that Bethesda license I wouldn't be allowed to use them if I took the license literally (may only distributed in WAD files - what about PK3?) unless I added yet another file to the distribution.

Well, as long as you don't distributed it in any other fashion (ie. spending money with it), I think it should be alright.
I also been making one and even finished it, but I made it for personal use for now. I don't know how should I release it publicly.

It's still a violation of the license in legal terms. It only grants the rights to distribute it in WAD files - it explicitly mentions "WAD", not "Doom mod" or whatever other broader term. I PM'ed Sponge about it, the wording here is really unfortunate because I am dead certain that this was not intended to be this restrictive.

Reasonable enough. I guess we should tried to be safe about it for now until we got the information about the license clear enough.

While i agree on including the assets in the engine i'd rather use those made by Nash. He started his project first.
And remember that this thread is about Nash's project not the Bethesda/Monkeysoft assets, i'd rather not mess with their licenses.
As a side note Rachael already added support for the wide status bar when using the unity iwad.

Nash's repo only contains the titiepics so what use is that for the rest of the game? You are also forgetting that these assets are essentially unlicensed and we still depend on id's goodwill to use them. The official ones at least come with a license, but if that little issue gets cleared up they are definitely the better choice.

I am working on the rest. The final version of WidePix will include the full set of graphics - remember I am doing this during my free time, and for free. It's going to take some time. I expect to be done in a few more weeks.

Anything related to the Bethesda's official pack is none of my concern and if GZDoom wants to be shipped with those, I don't really have anything to say about that.

This thread is about MY take on the graphics. I already accepted that mine will never be declared as official.

I really feel sorry for Nash that his amazing project gets kinda nuked by the Unity release. Right now at least the wider STBAR from here has a clear advantage since you can scale the statusbar down further without the borders showing. A width of 426 isn't really much.

The new status bar really adds nothing, at least the extended bar added some extra info in Doom BFA i believe.
About the original license it allowed using modified graphics in addons as long as you use them to play the game and i know Russian Doom already included modified widescreen assets and there were no problems. I'd still prefer to include Nash's graphics in LZDoom if that's possible.

What's curious is that the STBAR from the Bethesda package is different from the Unity iwads. Those had cracks on both sides, the ones in the zipfile don't. They are more like the bar posted in this thread.

Anyway, in the end it's good if we can choose, even though most people might still go for the official files.

Time to back on topic. We haven't have a widescreen version of "CREDIT" pic for DOOM Registered (Non-Ultimate version) yet!
I know it's a bit unnecessary, but may as do just well for fun.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

That's important, I think. I know most users will probably use The Ultimate Doom - I myself have both versions of the game and will occasionally load up the Registered version just for fun.

Thanks for this. I don't have a copy of non-Ultimate Doom (it was only on Discord that someone provided me the 320x200 TITLEPIC of it), so I will use the file you attached as a base. Are there any other graphics from Doom Registered that need to be taken care of?

That's the only graphic that's unique. I thought maybe the HELP files - but HELP1 from Doom and The Ultimate Doom is the same. HELP2, maybe? But that's for the Shareware version of Doom (buy Doom; get Shores of Hell and Inferno), and I'm not sure how complete you want this to be -- and it's not like you can load mods for Shareware Doom on GZDoom, AFAIK.

Actually, GZDoom did tried to load HELP2 even if you had Registered version.
And speaking of that, I don't know why, but custom image of HELP1 and HELP2 doesn't wanna load if the files is collided with DOOM 2 custom assets and vice versa inside the same PK3 file. Nevermind, I found the cause of it. It was because it was collide with Revenant100's Sprite Fixing Project, which has it's own HELP images.

As far as I see it, no. That's the only thing that is different from Registered and Ultimate version.
