The BFG with zdoom random can theoretically do alot of damage so we wanted to figure out the chance of oneshotting a cyberdemon with it. We ran a script calculating the damage for 100+ million runs but never got a 4000, so it needed some math estimation to get an answer...

Got 0.00000000000000000323 % chance as an answer. Hope the math is correct!
I didn't find anything about this on the googleinterwebs so the people must know.

So in other words, theoretically possible, but with a chance so low that you might as well get struck by lightning first, before you ever see this happen.

Interesting paper you wrote there. Scientific proof of Doom game mechanics is a new one...

Holy st, what kind of things actually happen beyond our scope of perception!

Re: Probability of BFG9000 to oneshot Cyberdemon
Or, if it is just a random (albeit tiny) chance, it could happen the next time someone shoots a Cybie. Hey, it may have even happened already! From this, I assume nobody will ever oneshot a cyberdemon with a bfg ball for centuries to come.

No idea what's realistically doable. Just for fun I tried a few notarget attacks in E2M8, the best damage I got was 3550 hit points.
