Just an update here.

Ai Neural Network Upscale of the iced Chainmail Ettin after cleaning up the artwork, I'll mark it as a spoiler. Around 25 sprites left to resize and optimize.

Takes around 45mins to clean up each sprite after the Ai upscale, pixel art is difficult indeed, but always fun.

Also a massive update to the 3 playerclasses, now each character has fully working acs scripts allocated, ie selection screen and be able to summon allies!

A slight issue in that I don't quite understand the exact formula to resize custom sprites after a x4 Ai upscale?

Some sprites work out as x3.56 and others are x3.67 and so on, if anyone is reading this and know the exact formula for an Ai Neural Upscale for X4 please let us know.

Anybody have a copy of the megawad? That upscale is looking amazing, keep up the solid work! Hexen is my favourite doom engine game and your mod makes it even more enjoyable, especially coop :O

The most recent upscale came out pretty dang good. It will be interesting to see all the finished products after you've gone through all of them and cleaned them up. Also, if possible, could I please get a copy of the megawad through PM as well?

I had a go with this mod + Project Brutality standalone monsters together playing the bestiary.wad by Misery viewtopic.php?f=42&t=71412&p=1181398#p1181398

So I had an idea - oh noes, here it comes...

Can you MERGE your Brutal Hexen and Brutal Heretic mods into one? Then we can load up other Doom monster packs and create a Brutal bastion of mods. It would be incredible to with IronTusk's Diablo since all those hellspawn from Doom can work as well.

If you want to test this, you would also need to load Doom or Doom2 wads or your doomcomplete on top of Hexen wad as the PB monster wad needs to inherit something from the Doom asset side.

Regarding ripping assets from Brutal Hexen or Brutal Heretic, this is a unique experience and should not be watered down into other addons, with the highest respect, its merely a suggestion, how about creating some brand new sprites for this addon you speak of? You would have a fresh set of new enemies for the community, you cannot steal assets from our work I'm afraid.

The Great Irontusk I believe wouldn't use ripped assets from other creators, but I highly believe if you made some fresh Diablo type sprites that he would implement them into the mod itself!

Without going offtopic let us speak in DM because this sounds really awesome and I would like to help out if I may?

I also helped out Irontusk with the VR Edition, Brutal Hexen, Brutal Heretic and Diablo3D are some of the best VR experiences ever.

Hello ZDL,

I think there must have been some confusion.

The PB team had released their monsters as a separate MOD WAD.
The map from Misery is a HEXEN MAP with Hexen + Doom monster entities built in.

So what I did was just load Brutal Hexen + the PB monster mods on TOP of the map.

It would then load the Brutalized monsters from both mods.

I did not have to "rip" anything so long as the map had defined the default game monster actors correctly. The mods would "replace" the default monsters with its own.

Go test that map with the Hexen IWAD and you will understand what I am talking about.

I hope I am clear.

I have some ideas for an action RPG taking the old school 3D style into "real time" like with the Doom Engine. While I cannot draw, sing, or dance, I can offer some assistance if you can point the way to some tutorials such as maybe making rough maps or pixel processing.

Let's keep it simple and maybe do a test concept first.

So, play as warrior in brutal hexen is like play on easy?
Cleric and mage can't summon golem. They do less damage. They had more monsters per level (warrior don't have afrit at the beginning, but cleric and mage has. Difficult: volatile)

Hello ZDL,

I took the OT to DM.

I have a suggestion and it applies also to Brutal Heretic.

Can you look at recoding the Torch so it becomes a LEFT shoulder flashlight but with a flickering orange-yellow light?

The example you should look at would be from DarkDoomZ.

That mod has a LEFT shoulder flashlight option.

The reason for the request is that the current torch has a halo around it but it hazy or foggy looking and BARELY lights up the level. If you replace the halo with an emitted light, it would really light up the room more realistically.

Try loading DARKDOOMZ, enable the flashlight and compare. I use the RED FILTER to pretend it is a magical fire and it looks better, even with GZDOOM DARK light setting.

Hope you would consider this change or maybe we should ask DARKDOOMZ author to create a yellow flashlight option to fake it?

Hello and thanks for the replies.

Zorba2030 regarding the summoning abilities, I have fixed this for the next update, it took me nearly 2 years to implement for coop online, also balanced the playerclasses and an absolute tonne of other fixes.

Valken regarding the torches, it has a dynamic flare which moves with the player, recoding a static light wont have no warping effect, the issue on this version is that only the fighter torch works as intended, the rest of the flares hit the ceiling, I have already fixed this 99% just need to allocate the height ratios.

I use the red filter for Diablo3D its awesome, but this needs the flare ratios fixing on each character, trust me on this it will be epic once fully fixed.

These issues you have both mentioned, has taken me along time to fix because of the coop optimizations, keep an eye on the update, should be a few weeks.

Just an update here.

Working on the Mage frame work and fixed the bugged combo.

Now I just need to figure out this strange 3rd combo animation bug, the frame vanishes for some reason?

I'm always 99% in Zdoom, really hope I can fix this for the new update, if anyone is reading and could offer any assistance, please reply or DM, eternally grateful for any help right now.
