Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
I will probably go back to the old syntax until GZD explicitly discontinues it, meaning when it stops working in latest versions.

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
It appears that my implementation of brightmaps being automatically deactivated for redefined textures in pwads did not work. This is not a bug within the pack, but GZDoom. It has just been fixed and should work as intended in the next GZDoom release after 4.2.4 (presumably 4.2.5).
While we are at it: How do you guys feel about the pods in Heretic using brightmaps? I just noticed recently they glow in the dark and I am not sure if they should. Since they are explosive it can be useful so see them (to avoid hitting them with weapons accidentally), but the question is whether it looks right since it's some kind of bush which probably doesn't glow usually.

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
That's great news. Thank you for making this little mod. It adds quite a lot to the atmosphere.
Regarding the Heretic pods, I like that they glow. As you say, they're a hazard so it's nice to see them clearly. I just think of them as being able to self-produce some kind of phosphorescence...

You can follow the GitHub link, then click on green "Clone or download" button, and select "Download ZIP". Renaming .zip to .pk3 is optional.
Or you can use the direct link that would lead you to the same place: https://github.com/NightFright2k19/brig ... master.zip

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
downloading it as a pk3 doesn't work
Edit: Oh no. The dropbox links to the version I had before I tried replacing it with this give me 404s.

Okay, forget pk3. Download zip and load it instead.

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
Nope, that doesn't work either.
Can you compile it into a pk3 or something and attach it please?

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
Sorry, I should have checked if it works myself. Indeed, loading the archive from GitHub doesn't load brightmaps for some reason. Here is the pk3.
By the way, the only thing I had to do is unzip the brightmaps-master.zip, and zip a folder that was inside instead.

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
I'm breaking the records of unhelpfulness here. I checked the wrong file. Sorry.
Yes, the GitHub version isn't working for me, either, no matter how I fiddle with it. It seems it's a matter for NightFright to investigate.

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
I just got introduced to the Releases tab.
I feel dumb.
Why does github have to hide the proper download on a separate tag of all things??

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
Because first and foremost Github is a tool used by developers to collaborate on code and projects and NOT really meant to be a place for laymen to download mods or other software, it just ends up being used that way occasionally.Zenon wrote:I just got introduced to the Releases tab.

Re: Brightmaps Plus (spritefix compatible)
OK, I made a mistake here (or rather forgot to do something). Other than in my other GitHub projects I post here in the forums, I only linked to the GitHub page without providing a direct d/l link to the PK3 itself. Got that fixed now. Sorry for that, guys! Hope it works for everybody now.
