I don't really like more color.
Just wait until people start making wads with images that take advantage of the extra colors. ;)

Hobbs, I see we have very similar opinions on the whole 'classic feel' issue, like in the mouselook argument I had with Phoenix9000.

Tell me, what PrBoom are you using and where are the options for 16/32-bit color?

That would be PrBoom 2.3.x. I tested the True Color option, too, but I think it is close to useless. It apparently doesn't recreate the colormap and as a result doesn't look any better than 8 bit mode - plus a huge speed hit.

I like classic Doom as much as the next person, but I like additional features in good helpings as well. It has been ages since I've played without mouselook outside a DM server.

@Graf any better is a rather strong thing to say. It doesn't look much better thats for sure, if my resolution wasn't 1024x768 (the smallest 4:3 my notebooks monitor displays correctly without blur) I would probably not have been able to tell any difference. So I did try with ZDoomGL, as was suggested by Chris, and OK, its kind of nice but I keep my new position of "it would be a great option, but I don't think it's for me."

That's why these things 9 times out of 10 come in the video options section of games so everyone can pick their preference... and may that never change.
