How to run/open
This might sound stupid but I don't even know how to run this. Can you please help an idiot?

The best place to start would be the Wiki (our online documentation). The section in the upper left, "Using ZDoom" (also GZDoom) has a page called [wiki]Installation and execution of ZDoom[/wiki]. Other pages in that same section tell you how to run mods and use the basic features of the engine.
