ZDoom Dead?
Wait... why on the downloads page does it list ZDoom as discontinued? I'm rather stunned. I can't find much info about why it was discontinued... can anybody sum up for me?
Re: ZDoom Dead?
The first place you would've wanted to look for that information is the news forum - you'd have found something like this.
Re: ZDoom Dead?
In all practical terms, ZDoom isn't dead -- it's just been renamed to "GZDoom".
No different than Skulltag->Zandronum, really, aside from the transfer of management going painlessly.

Re: ZDoom Dead?
Thanks Xaser.
I've always thought of GZDoom as a very different port with a different goal in mind than ZDoom. I guess things have changed a lot since I made my first GZDoom level. Back then I couldn't hardly find any GZDoom specific maps, now there are lots of them. All the levels were ZDoom back then. Times, they have-a-changed.

Re: ZDoom Dead?
GZDoom has been 'complete ZDoom plus OpenGL' for a very long time, but now that ZDoom itself has ceased development it is the official port for both renderers.
Re: ZDoom Dead?
It's also good to note that there's nothing about GZDoom that forces you to use hardware rendering. You can still use software with it if you preferred ZDoom.
