Doom clone for Pocket PC...
http://www.4pockets.com/game_info.php?p ... o=X&pid=53
Basically, what it is is a Doom clone for Pocket PC. How very original. But there are a few interesting things I've gotta note about it. I'll start with the good, then go to the bad.
Pros:
-Has shiney, reflective floors that look quite nice in action, especially on elevators
-Seems to have quite a few things that Zdoom supports, plus some it doesn't, such as: Seemingly pretty high-res textures, horizon lines, transparent textures (not, floors, though),up/down look executed the same way Zdoom currently does it, and what seems to be some sort of scripting. Also, room over room (to some extent at least), the previously mentioned reflective floors, crouching, fully functional ladders, dynamic lighting from various sources, like shots fired from a gun.
Cons:
-Wonky control schemes, even when customized (It's a PPC, so unfortunately you can't expect much of controls)
-Some textures ripped straight out of Doom and Quake, if not other games (click the screenshots link on the page, and you should notice some)
-Mish mash of enemies produced from all different means, some seemingly made like Doom enemies, some are poor 3D model captures from other games...
-Possible to get stuck some places due to elevators rising and you not being able to bring them back down.
-Falling damage is weird. As in, you take a helluva lot of it.
Not to say it's bad, just kinda interesting... Also the fact that it ripped graphics from Doom is kinda interesting.
So, are people still unwilling to believe that Zdoom would run on a PPC if ported?

Playing it and everything, it isn't all that bad. But yeah, it would be better if it just plain was Doom, or better yet, Zdoom. Also the fact that on an overclocked PPC, it goes at about 30 or so fps. But I guess it's not all that bad. It does need a lot better way to aim, though... I mean, you need to tap and hold at the top or bottom of the screen to look up and down, and the screen scrolls so incredibly slowly... Oy. At least there's also the fact that it just came out, and there's the possibility that there will be updates to make it better... Maybe even more original, with less rips... Maybe they'll even make a map editor... heh... Make Doom in that game... Rock.
