Wolfen preview

Post by LilWhiteMouse »

http://home.midmaine.com/~lilwhitemo/wolfen_p3.cab

My first Hexen project. Still stuff to do, but this version can at least be completed. Difficulty/Classes are implemented for the first three maps, but not the fourth. I designed it for the Cleric in mind, so anyone playing the Fighter/Mage feel free to mention any concerns.

Each class get's a fifth weapon, but it's sorta hidden. They'll recharge over time, and will indicate on the top of the screen when it get's low. I haven't decided if I'm going to allow the Tome of Power yet.

Well, there's a library in the Ruined Town. Does that help any?

What, you haven't beaten the game already? All right... here goes.

On the "Gibbet" level, there is a room (behind a bookcase) that has a library in it. at the far end of the room, the bookcase farthest from the door looks slightly different from the others, with two empty slots in a row of books (in the middle of the shelf). You should have both of the two books at this point (Daemon Codex and the other one which name I forgot). Use both the items (like any other inventory item) on the empty spaces, they should fit, and the letters on the spines of the books should spell "KORAX". A few bookshelves will lower, so you need to get the head thing and leave the room. Not bad for a guy whose only played through the game once, eh?

I hope this doesn't spoil it for anyone. If it does, too bad!

The second weapon you pick up (Firestorm), or weapon #2 (Serpent Staff)?

I found a bug. After first getting to the fourth area(with the sea of lava), I decided to make a break for the tower out in the distance. I got there, went in the room at the bottom and hit the switch, and made my way up the spiral staircase(there's a missing lower texture on the stairwa, btw). When I reached the top, I met up with the Death Wyvern but it was dormant, and nothing I could do to wake it up/kill it, nor could I find a way back down. I could also jump off the side, where there was nothing except lava to kill myself in(the fall didn't kill me). I've been playing as the mage.

Chris: Wasn't my intent to let the player get to the tower like that, it's been fixed now. Everything else (aside from the texture) is a result of that.

BH: Have you picked up the clock gear and gained access to the catacombs under/behind the temple?
