Is there a Duke 3D file editor similar to SLADE3?

Post by olzhas1one »

I need to rip some assets from NAM for my future Doom TC, since I know nothing about Duke 3D modding, can anyone help please?

Slade can open Build/Duke grp files. If you're looking for graphics, open the .art lumps inside the grp in Slade then use the arrow icons on the bottom right of the screen to scroll through the images held inside the art file. Remember to switch palettes to the Duke one (or whatever is appropriate for Nam (I don't recall if it used a custom palette or not).

For ripping resources out of an art file, use right-click->Graphic->Extract All. That'll be much saner than browsing though the up-to-256 pictures one by one...

I've just noticed that, on my system at least, sometimes the arrows in the bottom right that I mentioned disappear. The extract all option mentioned by Gez is a better solution for a full sprite/graphics dump though.

Also if you use an alternative game engine called EDuke3D located at http://www.eduke32.com you can use the included map editor called Mapper.

He's asking how to extract resources. Not about which source port of Duke Nukem 3D to use.
