Adding a Sonar Pulse

GZDoom

I've seen this thing in Red Alert (where it doesn't have much use at all), and on a second thought about that Proximity Scanner, I decided that before making any decisions, I ask you about this. It's not compulsory at all, so it would not be a key feature, yet, I believe it would be a very useful item for the player.

Basically, this thing would effect the map view - it would show every enemy in existence on that level. It would show only LIVE enemies, and would not show static objects, scenery and items, like the IDDT cheat does. I wonder if it is possible to program such an item, and would it work flawlessly even if the player did not acquire a Computer Area Map earlier.
The effect of the Sonar Pulse would of course, only last until the end of the level.
