Hi there,

I'm trying to summon monsters in Doom3 BFG edition. I'd like to live the story in my way, lets say, having vulgars in Mars city, for example.

The game allows me to do that, but when I spawn a monster that is not in the map already (even if it is a regular Doom3 monster, but that is not present in the map I'm playing) it does only spawn a black cube. Lets say, I can't summon monsters that are not in the map already. Does any one know how to fix that?

Doom3BFG's map content is manifest optimized to eliminate random access decompression. It makes it extremely fast to load when on optical and mechanical media, however at the cost that the only content that exists is what's stored in the active map. The engine can load external resources, but it has to be unpacked from an existing map first. There is no automatic or established procedure for this (as far as I know).

Did you try RBDoom3BFG? I was able to do spawn monster types that weren't already in the map to get screenshots of them in well-lit areas (Vagary in Mars City, for example), and that's the only difference I can think of.
