Are we allowed to use the various assets (IE gore) outside of ARGENT? I know the author of the weapon sprites doesn't mind.

Sure, just drop me a line of credit somewhere -- pretend the sprites (sans SPLT* and SPRY* since those are game rips) are CC-BY-NC and the code is MIT Licensed since they all will be at some point.


At any rate, I should have some pretty cool stuff to show off in a day or two. I may be progressing with certain plans earlier than anticipated.

Great mod so far Xaser. This is a blast to play even in its early stages - I have a lot of praise for well-made, simple weapon-replacement mods that change the weapons just enough to be an interesting rebalance of the Doom arsenal while still not straying too far from the original. I am personally a fan of the Rocket Launcher's increased damage and its ability to gib the larger Doom 2 monsters, some in just one hit - it's very satisfying to finally be able to kill a Revenant in a single shot. (Take that, you bony bastards.)

Just a couple of things I noticed from playing v0.1.1:

-I am grateful that the Rocket Launcher's projectiles now have smaller hitboxes - this seems to fix my tendency to explode if I fire the weapon while standing against a wall parallel to my right side.
-Single rocket pickups produce the "You got the Rocket Launcher!" string. While the concept of self-launching rockets is a neat idea, I'm guessing that wasn't what you had in mind. At least for this mod, anyway. :P
-There's a minor glitch in the way that certain weapons behave when switching weapons while firing. In my experience weapons will normally stop or finish firing upon switching, but as long as the fire button is held down, certain weapons such as the Shotgun and Super Shotgun (but not all weapons) will keep firing rather than switching immediately. This has caught me by surprise a couple of times now while I was trying to switch to a different weapon to save ammunition. Is this something to do with the weapon's A_Refire state?

That's all I've noticed, but I've already had a lot of fun with this mod. Looking forward to future updates and seeing the weapon upgrades implemented whenever!

Doom 4 in Doom 1 engine featuring fast Doom 1 movements and millions of enemies on the screen would indeed be incredible.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm currently recording bugs and missing features and things as GitHub Issues, as an official to-do, and those have made the list.

Hmm, since I've got a system for customizing the game via CVARs, I wonder if having a "disable mods" would be appreciated by some folks. At some point the current simplicity is going to be strayed from once the altfires start rolling in, and I suppose some folks may want to play without them. Minority, likely, but it'd be pretty easy to add support for 'em anyway. Thoughts on this?

I just want to chime in to say that I am very satisfied with the way this is turning out so far. And yeah, Offsets can be a real pain!

Whew, finally recorded a vid of my latest bit of progress. Behold -- mods!


Though just the HAR is implemented fully, the basic system is all set up and working, with full animations and controls accurate to the game (altfire readies the mod, fire shoots it). Huzzah!

Still a few things left to polish before I release v0.1.2 (and tons of mods to actually implement before v0.2.0 -- or even v0.3.0 -- becomes a thing). But it's coming...

amazing and agitating, also i think the missile's ignition should be off unless it's still boosting and going through their body.

Plus, i'd like to see even more of your weapon upgrades!!
