I'd also like to add that Kaspersky found it all-clear and its database was updated today May 10 2:00AM EST
Anyways, good mod! It's just slightly inconvienient that it it doesn't work efficiently with mouselook disabled, however it's a cool concept! My suggestions are to look into the mild jitter it has when using the wheel and maybe find a way for the wheel to fit into Doom more graphically, maybe change the green to red? I don't know but I do feel it could improve in these areas!
Anyways, very good work! But, I wouldn't play with it if given a choice because I don't prefer having anymore information shown on my screen than it already is.

Unfortunately, I think it would be impossible to write this to be compatible with mouselook disabled =(
What is the jitteriness you are referring to? Do you mean the cursor? I have to admit, this does feel a bit awkward to me still. I was being selfish and didn't spend terribly long calibrating the thing because I play in joystick mode =P
As for the graphics, I don't disagree, but I myself am pretty artistically incapable of accomplishing such a feat. If somebody wanted to make some, I would be happy to put them in though. It might be nice to give players a choice between different wheel designs.

Re: Weapon Wheel v1
Doom mods just contain plain text files and assets, no executables which could have a virus, so don't worry.

Also, it seems the download has a virus in it according to Chrome.

How is having that wheel of weapons helps game play? I mean it only covers the screen.

It's more of an aesthetic thing. Gotta admit, it's a neat concept.Extropist wrote:How is having that wheel of weapons helps game play? I mean it only covers the screen.

Also useful for gamepad players, I'd imagine, because cycling through weapons with a button is tedious.enderkevin13 wrote:It's more of an aesthetic thing. Gotta admit, it's a neat concept.Extropist wrote:How is having that wheel of weapons helps game play? I mean it only covers the screen.
(And before anybody asks "Who the hell plays with a gamepad anymore?" - me, among a handful of others, I'm sure.)

Don't Xbox 360 controllers work with Windows 10 for gaming?wildweasel wrote:Also useful for gamepad players, I'd imagine, because cycling through weapons with a button is tedious.enderkevin13 wrote:It's more of an aesthetic thing. Since Windows Vista, actually. I've been using a DualShock 4 for a while, with a driver to make it behave like a 360 pad. Works surprisingly smoothly.

Did you watch the gameplay video or try it out for yourself? Of course, when it's up it covers a lot of the screen, but it's hardly ever up---often for less than second only when you switch weapons.Extropist wrote:How is having that wheel of weapons helps game play? And it makes the gameplay faster (so it's not just aesthetic). Perhaps in vanilla it's not quite as useful, but in PB with 25+ weapons, it's much quicker to switch weapons with the wheel than it is to scroll through them with "Next weapon" and "Previous weapon", as WW said. Even if you're using a keyboard, there are only 10 slots, and so you will still need to do a bit of 'scrolling'. The wheel completely eliminates this, and thus results in faster/smoother gameplay.
All that said, if you're playing vanilla with keyboard and mouse, it's not really necessary, and would admittedly probably be slower than just using the number keys. But that's not what it was designed for.

Using this in vanilla, and Smooth Doom since you were so kind, with my gamepad has made me one hell of an unstoppable beast, unless a Cyberdemon is nearby. Good stuff.
