I see some of you guys use cheat codes in doom or some other doom related levels or custom made. What about other games besides doom, hexen, heretic, & strife.
How would you use cheat codes in other games.

I tend to use cheat codes for testing weapons and items. In other cheating News, the creator of LMAObox(the popular tf2 cheating software) has announced he has given up after a massive round of VAC bans.

Re: Cheating in Video games?
My uncle used to call me "The Cheater" because it was mandatory for me to start with all weapons, god mode, flight, and everything you can think of. Nowdays I play on highest difficulty without cheats, even if I die every 3 seconds. Only time I cheat is when I test mods, which is more like "debugging" rather than cheating.

I'm somewhere in the gray area, though closer to "cheating" than "no cheats." It's more than likely the reason I'm terrible with balancing gameplay.
And more than likely the reason I'm terrible at games altogether.
I would say "no cheats" in multiplayer though. Unless that's the whole point of the server or whatever, but even then, probably not.

In multiplayer, no.
In single player, it depends on the game, and on the person. For me, I'm LOUSY at platform games, even though I grew up with them. So cheating in a Mario game is VERY fine by me! If it's a type of game I'm good at, or a game that I'm simply in tune with, I usually won't cheat. As I get older, though, I feel like I have less time for some games, so I'll set up something like double XP in an RPG, for example. Anyway, cheat or no cheat, just have fun, cuz that's what games are for!

Re: Cheating in Video games?
If you play games to have fun, and the built-in(!) cheats keep it fun, why not? Sometimes you just want to goof around.
Or maybe you've gotten to a needlessly frustrating part, and getting past that would allow you to enjoy the rest of the game. This isn't bad.
I've also used cheats in coop games for both reasons. As long as you have everyone's OK, why not? Goofing off can be fun, why do you think Garry's Mod sells so well? Besides that, some games get more frustrating in multiplayer, or might have bugs that are less easy to deal with than in SP. (E.G. Save-hacking a Hexen game, or using admin privs in a Synergy game to avoid redoing the same section a fourth time.) It's not that different from having one player who's been through the game several times and knows the levels forwards and backwards. (Not to mention that, typically, you get to respawn endlessly as long as someone stays alive.)
The real shame about newer games being so multiplayer-focussed is that they're removing these kinds of features entirely. That, or they take the standpoint that cheating somehow damages their "vision" of how the game "should be played".
Doom modders do this, too. You know, the ones who are modifying someone else's game to begin with?
Anti-cheats are for dealing with people who are actually trying to ruin the game for someone else - If they're only ruining it for themselves, that's their own fault. Basically, someone who refuses to play your mod as you made it isn't part of your target audience anyway, so ignore them.

Oh don't get me started on the kinds of cheating you can see in Souls games. Third installation just had some script kiddie try to get thousands of people banned from multiplayer recently.DoomRater wrote:Inb4 "I play a spellcaster in Dark souls 2 and always bring friends to boss battles" comments
