If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Just a note, here's my notebook
Image
as you can see, you need a really great proecssor, 8GB of ram, and 2 or more GB of vram (I heard Doom 4 can even use 4GB if avaliable),
so, eliminate any notebook with the specs:
-less than 8GB of ram
-less than 2GB of vram
-get an notebook processor with the name ended with QM or HQ (That means, it's a true quad core processor)
-The gpu I cant say much, but something better than an AMD HD8870m is a must have

the thing is, if you're buying a laptop that's that high-end, you're likely to spend an insane amount of money on it. and in a few years, it'll be completely obosolete unless you can upgrade the components inside, and i don't think laptops are really the thing for that kind of stuff. a desktop would be a saner alternative, because it's cheaper and upgradable, so it's more future-proof and more cost-effective.

Actually there is a form factor for laptop graphics cards now, so you can in fact upgrade certain gaming laptops designed for that sort of thing. The Titan is an example of such a laptop.

The Y700 with GTX 960M seems like a nifty compromise between power and performance as this video demonstrates. Maybe if I tone down a few settings then it should perform okay.

You'r e buying an expencive notebook for playing it in HD? even my 3 years old notebook can do that... (but with a bit less fps  )

As I said, if you really want a laptop for playing AAA games, get one with thunderbolt 3, or one with external graphics dock

EDIT: Resolution apart, that laptop looks fine (for HD)

@ibm It's around $1K, which should be reasonable enough.
BTW what are your settings in the game?

1280x720, Motion Blur Low, Chromatic Aberration ON, Anti-Aliasing TSSAA.
I never liked Motion Blur, since need for speed underground 1, it looks weird and drop the fps :(

But in general, are the settings like low or medium? I'm aiming to at least get a decent framerate around those settings.

The advanced vídeo options here is locked, so idk if it's on min or max.
but in general, my laptop is at the limit, the action parts goes to 24fps, and also with all that effects on my processor were 100% all the time.
Idk if the last release will be allowed to change some advanced graphics settings, but for now, I belive it's on min settings (because the recommended settings on steam tells you need 4GB of vram)
