Re: what is the most nasty computer virus you have gotten
While I haven't had any viruses that outright destroyed data (aside from one that didn't really have a payload and only existed to force AVG to quarantine or delete random programs), the biggest headache of a virus I'd ever had was Yankee Doodle. It was partially my brother's doing (he had a habit of pulling random floppy disks from Dad's collection), but that doesn't mean I wasn't also complicit in getting our shared 386 infected with the scourge of Yankee Doodle. It never attacked data, it didn't destroy the boot sector or anything - it just stuck itself in memory somewhere and would randomly interrupt the current program to play Yankee Doodle out the PC speaker. According to Dad, my brother and I had run so many of his floppies with that virus still in memory that he spent hours trying to clean everything.

The nastiest computer virus that's what I'm having right now and my computer is moving really slow and I don't know what kind of computer virus it is but if you guy's can help me figure out what's going on with my system man that would mean a lot to me.
Because I have a ton of awesome doom files and pictures of my friends and family including my cousin that has past and I don't want anything to happen to those items so please i really need your help badly before my computer crashes on me.

Well it happens when I first login afterwards its fine but when I get online then for some reason it just freezes up on me and I just don't know why and that's all that i can tell you guys right now.
My computer is actually 8 years old and its a Windows 7 laptop its been updated.
What kind of antivirus protecter should I be getting?

Hitman pro I've never heard that brand before. Will I've always had Norton Internet Security but I don'tthink that's doing me any good but I'll have to give hitman Pro a try i guess.Redfox123 wrote:try downloading hitman proHellsmith1 wrote:The nastiest computer virus that's what I'm having right now and my computer is moving really slow and I don't know what kind of computer virus it is but if you guy's can help me figure out what's going on with my system man that would mean a lot to me.

Re: what is the most nasty computer virus you have gotten
Antiviruses tend to vary a lot with what they can detect and deal with, usualy the more powerful ones are also the more heavier ones, so the answer to correct software tends to vary with what you need, what kind of computer you have, how you use it and how you behave online.
Tho it is generally agreed by most people that norton and AVG aren't really the most top tier choices.
When it comes to free antiviruses, discussing the choices in that area tends to usually cause a shitstorm. I've personally used Avast! tho, however that one has its own annoyances and has definitely gone downhill.
Tho for your situation;
I'd recommend Malware Bytes for start. It is a powerful free anti virus and has lot of support in their online community, while it might not always be able to remove everything, it has a pretty good reporting feature that is able to detect fishy behavior/oddities in the system that can help to track more specified virus/worm/etc issues. However, for future reference free version of malware bytes is basically only for scanning/fixing, I recall it doesnt have active protection in the free version, so get it for scanning files & cleaning already infected systems.
One thing tho, I dont know if they fixed it yet/added toggle or not but it has had an issue in the past with being unable to start a scan if connection acts up due of its "better check update before scanning" shenigans.
Non free options;
-Karspersky has free 30 day trial and is very heavy duty anti virus, you can use it as a nuke when needed. But be warned, this is a very strict and jump the gun type of anti virus and is basically the type that will help less careful/knowledgeable internet users to stay clean. Due of that, its basically good for casual internet browsing machines, work machines of usual office stuff and mom's first computer machines. So if you want to keep using it after the trial remember that.
-Nod32 is apparently an extremely good anti virus from what I've heard. However, I have personally no experience with it and I don't know too much, I assume it might have a free trial, but I am not sure. Might be worth checking too.
There are lot of other anti viruses too, free or commercial, and I've had experiences with F-secure and Zonealarm, but I am personally not too keen with those two, tho I dont know if they have changed during the times. F-secure has good investigators/research on their site, but the software itself is bit meh.
Try Malware Bytes first and if that fails, try Kaspersky's trial for the nuke. if it still fails, google some more options or go for fresh clean start.
Afterwards do some research and try find anti virus that suits your needs best and just stay careful with sites you visit and things you download.

Re: what is the most nasty computer virus you have gotten
I got some good news and some bad news. The good news is Kaspersky antivirus did the job and my laptop computer is doing well again but here's the bad news when it was done scanning Kaspersky showed a website and the name of the virus.
The virus was from one of the doom community sites so I really don't know which website it from and I do have the name of the computer virus if you want to know what the name is I'll tell you guys later on today.
But for now my laptop computer is now back to normal again.

I was shocked if they were imposters or not. Megaupload was shut down by FBI, but that's old news.demo_the_man wrote:i caught some ransomware a couple of years ago, creator claimed they where the FBI

Keylogged by somebody who wanted to get my uncles Blizzard account details. He was using the laptop and the assailant using his friend's account (already got him) in AIM sent him an .Exe file that he claimed was a new patch. Then when I used the laptop to check my e-mails, all the password were changed on them.
