How do you honor Doom?

still playing it in 2016, avoiding Doom IV, printing custom Doom shirts on Shirtinator website and wearing them in public.

By spending a great deal of my time programming Doom-related software. I've been developing a Doom bot (and I plan to return to it) and currently I spend a lot of time on Eternity.

I hope I find something else to do, however.

Pretty much by playing it and trying to learn how to mod for Doom on occasion (when the sting of frustration finally settles and I feel up to trying to learn again).

I feel like it should be respected more, because it's one of the reasons the FPS genre became so successful.

What do you mean "respected more?" It might not be a household name, but more people than you think know about it. It's in plenty of "Best Games of All Time" lists, and it was one of the first games selected for the VG Hall of Fame, right there with Pac Man, Super Mario Bros, and Pong. Sounds like it has plenty of respect to me.

I made some mods, mostly new creatures (with recolors) with new attacks or stronger than the basic version and a randomizer. I want to improve in ACS so I can make a mod with abilities and shops.

From time to time I like to see awesome demos from good megawads, like Community Chest, Alien Vendetta or A Doom Oddysey.

I want to buy a PS4 when I have enough money, and Doom 4 of course. My PC is too old for anything more modern than Painkiller.

Does making a Windows 98 animated boot screen out of the endoom pic of Doom 1 Episode 3 count? The flames billow while logging in.

The logout screen is Episode 4 end pic, with an additional "Fuck this" added to it.

I have a Museum for Doom on my flash drive (need to put this in a safe place). I've been playing Doom since I was about 4 or 5. I'm 26 now. Take that as you will.

by being one of the few people who refused to play Quake and calling the game a Doom rip-off and the characters 'block heads' when it first came out, and playing Doom instead
