Really getting into iron sights

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

I really wish the quality of model rips in this mod were a lot cleaner. This has been a problem since RGA2; the original rips were made with all the graphical effects on, including depth of field, leaving nasty white halo effects around the edges. In addition, they were scaled down nearest-neighbor, ruining a lot of the detail, and the desaturation shaders in the game they were ripped from make the sprites appear almost totally lacking in color.

There are other things that have bothered me about that series of mods, but that's the one that I can remember.

I must agree that the sprites are soooo low res. I wonder how good they'd be if they'd had the treatment the guns in Quake 4 Weapons Mod had:

Resolution is hardly the complaint I have with them. They can look just fine if any kind of care was taken at all as to how they were ripped and treated in an image editor.

I'm fine with them, even if they are a bit overused: but my main problem is how certain games make hipfiring retardedly inaccurate to the point where you HAVE to use Iron Sights just to hit anything. If you are to include Iron Sights, use them for Sniping rather than having to always manually aim down your gun all the time just to hit your mark, even if it's just a few feet in front of you.

Yeah, I stand corrected. Not low res, just jagged.

Besides the already loveable Kar 98k, would it be possible to add iron sights to at least a couple more weapons in Diaz, such as the Bloc or the Marteba?

I don't update Diaz anymore.

[edit] Besides, the big obstacle is the availability of resources; the Mauser rifle had ready-made "aiming" sprites from Redneck Deer Huntin' (where, yes, the weapon was never actually a Mauser to begin with), whereas the Bloc and Marteba would need entirely new graphics drawn for them, and neither of the artists for those weapons still remain in the community.

That's OK. Diaz is still one of the best DooM weapons mods around, regardless. It's in my top 3!

Are there any other games I should try that offer them? I've already played FEAR 2, COD 2 w/realism mod, and Fallout 3 + New Vegas, to name a few.
