Hey, not to nitpick or anything, but you neglected to mention my help under the Eradicator section. Since mentioning it to you in that PM yesterday, I remembered that you had me pop into some IRC chat and dish some info, among which I recall being everything I'd figured out about Eradicator.

Unless I'm mistaken? But I swear to God that I did this.

Either way, fantastic work beating me to a working ripper for more than just the textures, heh. All around, really. There was another game I was getting information on that was an obscure oddball sprite-based third person shooter... I can't remember the name and I'm at work right now. If I can dig up the name and my research on it, you think you might be able to crack that one open?

EDIT: Esoteria is the game I was thinking of.

I don't really remember this but it likely happened a long time ago, but in the case of this rip Yagotzirck pretty much figured out everything by himself without looking at anybody else's instructions, hence why I credited only him for this. Diodeus and Jesh too had made some progress in ripping Eradicator, but this rip right here is 100% his work.

Well, not sure honestly. I know of the game but there are already others on the list of stuff to rip. We'll see I guess.

Okay, I was just making sure I didn't get shafted on the credits end, heh. This happened some time around you ripping Cybermage: Darklight Awakening, by the by. Also, sorry again I couldn't help much with Last Rites... there's like, no indication anywhere in the graphics files of how each individual image is stored. I'm starting to think it's something stupid like the values being hardcoded into the EXE or something...

Yeah, it's very likely that it's something like that. Stupid indeed but at least I don't know of any other game that does this (aside for Disruptor in parts). Hopefully we'll manage to find a way although I suspect it might take some time. Better late than never though. :P

Or actually... might the information be coded into the map data? This is also stupid, of course, but it'd make sense considering the .lif files have all the images needed for each mission, even if it's a repetition of graphics that already exist. I have no idea how to check for this possibility, but it had definitely occurred to me before.

Well, just in case someone wants to give it a look here's what I discovered about Last Rites' .LIF files so far http://pastebin.com/q6L6nJPN
I pretty much fully understood the weapon files (.SIF) , the .DSF speech/music files are ADPCM and gotta figure out a way to convert them; as of the rest(BITMAPS/SFX/ANIMS/etc) I haven't looked at those yet since the priority for now is the .LIF files.
Unfortunately I'm quite busy with other stuff at the moment so I'll pause this for a while

Would that I were to venture a guess, the 256x(unknown) sheet is almost certainly the same for every .LIF. Just from looking at them in TiledGGD, my guess is that the sheet is a standard size for each mission's file. If I'm right, then in theory you could just extrapolate the height and go from there. Really and truly just a shot in the dark, though.

my plan was to extract the sprites/textures on their own rather than the whole sheet containing them, but I haven't been able to find their widthxheight values anywhere... seems like i'll have to analyze the exe, but I don't have the time to spare to reverse it for the time being

Like I said, I'd maybe take a peek at the map/mission data first. With the way that things are stored redundantly on a per-mission basis in the .LIF files, it just might have something to do with them.

MISSIONS folder contains plain text files which can be opened with notepad++(or any other text editor I guess), defining level names/level music/briefing text/etc. Nothing relevant
As of the .CLF files I'll have to take a deeper look, they might contain some hints for sure(at this point the size values are either in the .CLF files, or embedded in the exe)

Sorry for the bump, but I'd be interested in the weapon sprites from Realms of the Haunting if that ever happens. I downloaded Ozy's pack but it seems to only have enemies and scenery sprites rather than the held weapon sprites.

Have any success in converting them?
