ZDoom Playing Online or Network?

I got a question for you guy's.
Is doom playing online any good because I've never been able to play with somebody else on the Internet before.

I'm wondering how I can set it up for my system to work right because I don't have broadband connection to my Internet but I do have an air card.

But I half be careful how much i download cause if I go over the usage then they will charge me.

How can I setup my Internet for playing Doom games online Without going over my usage?

Does anybody still play Doom online?

It's using netcode originally designed to fit over null-modem, so bandwidth costs are almost nominal.
