[Request] All sounds from Duke Nukem 1

Post by rUsHnUt »

Hi,

Since I, as a new registered member, am unable to use the private message feature & according to the board rules not allowed to bump a topic older than 30 days; I have no other alternative but to create a new one.
This is actually a request addressed to NeuralStunner since he provided the Duke Nukem 1 sounds in this topic.
But of course anyone might contribute/help as well.

Like the title already explains, I'm looking for all sounds from this classic game.
Searching on Google brought me to the topic I mentioned above.
But I know the existence of this forum for a longer time since I'm a ZDoom'er for quite some time :)

I downloaded the shareware version of Duke Nukem, thinking those files must contain all sounds ( since no new/other sounds are used in the episodes 2 & 3 from the full version of the game), and tried to figure out how to edit the game files but without succes.

I don't know how the transformation is being done for ripping audio files from data/game files ( specifically Duke Nukem 1 ) but if it's possible, I would like to have them in WAV format with the following specs ( same as the ones provided by NeuralStunner in the other topic ): 22050Hz, 16-bit, mono.

Thanks in advance.

Hi rUsHnUt and welcome to the forums.

While I don't know if this program works or could be of some use for you, I googl'd a bit and found this interesting tool for Commander Keen.
If you take a look to the list of supported games, you can find Duke Nukum and its counterparts, but it is also stated as not supported or not tested.

If you run out of luck, I would highly recommend checking out the PCKF website. There, look for levellass or lemm or malvineous or whoever, they might be able to help.

Thanks for the help/info so far.

I just downloaded KeenWave but seems I can't run the installation exe. Something to do with compatibility issues.
Searched for troubleshooting on Google to get it going ( if it would be succesful in the first place ), but the answers/solutions provided are just way too complex & beyond my pc-knowledge.
For example: install Windows Virtual PC & Windows XP mode is just a bit too much work to get a bunch of sounds
It's not that I desperately need them...

I might give the PCKF website a try but chances are high they will probably give me the same answer/help.

I don't know if NeuralStunner is still active here nowadays.
Since he is the one that already succesfully extracted the sounds from this game, it would have been nice if he either provided all the other sounds or gave me some advice to do it myself.

Open duke3d.grp with XWE. 1.16 is working on win7 x86 for me.

First, SLADE 3 can open DUKE3D.GRP. Second, they want the sounds from Duke Nukem 1, not Duke Nukem 3D.
