need to get a laptop, suggestions?

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

What do you plan on using your laptop for and how much do you want to spend?

Lenovo has been good in the past, but they've been having serious issues lately, especially with consumer machines. The hinges on my Y410p are failing; this is a known problem that Lenovo refuses to fix. One of my friends has a Y40- a newer model- with a glitchy screen and failing battery. And then there's the Yoga with the screws falling out. This is just my personal experience, but add to that the recent malware controversies and there is good reason to avoid a formerly good brand.

As far as I know, the Thinkpads are still decent.

music-production, some light gaming (running Zdoom is fine, GZDoom not really required but neat if it does), and i'm not travelling around a lot, so i guess battery-life isn't a big concern of mine (though a decent battery-life would be welcome.) the most i am willing to drop on a laptop is about 1000 dollars, though i've seen that computer stuff seems to be generally cheaper in the US anyway though.

Most any laptop would suit your needs gaming wise- even Intel HD Graphics has no trouble with GZDoom. It's the music production I'm concerned about. Are these programs especially demanding? Do you have any equipment with odd interfaces?

i'm just using FL Studio. no expensive studio-equipment or audio-card or anything. i've even used it on an old Dell computer which was pretty terrible, so i'm not too worried about that.

the M265 if I remember is a renamed AMD HD8850m, and that card is actually a good card (I have a HD8870m and it's almost the same thing, the hd8850 is just a downclocked version of it, but depending of the coolin system you can transform that gpu into a M270/8870m

In my experience and the experiences of a lot of people I know in real life, Acer, MSI, Asus and Lenovo are basically equivalent. They all have bloatware, customer support all sucks, they have about the same cost/specs ratio and are all still pretty solidly built.

The N550 is complete overkill for your needs. Don't get me wrong, it's a good laptop, but it's over an inch thick and weighs close to six pounds. I think you'd be better served by an Ultrabook with a Broadwell or Skylake ULV and a decent display.

i did a search for ultrabooks on local sites, and i can't seem to find anything worth purchasing. the only worthwhile model was an Asus Zenbook, but it was out of stock. the other one was a Sony VAIO Fit A, but i can't seem to find much information regarding if it's good or not. i'm aware of the abundance of power in that ASUS laptop, but it's probably the best deal i can find so far.

What part of the world are you in? I'd rather foolishly assumed you were in the US.

Sweden. i'd assume there might be something worth getting here if you can suggest me a specific model. otherwise, i'll go with the ASUS one, since it seems to be at least okay for the price, powerhouse aside.

Well, do a list of notebooks that you can find in Sweden and we could help u to decide the best one (or if there's the kind of websites on it that shows the most viewed/bought notebooks)

Have you thought of getting a Toshiba with a AMD card? Depends for if you plan on heavy gaming or light-medium gaming.
