You have the right to not like Linux as much as i have the right to like it. It's a personal choice i'd say. Windows sucks too because of all the crap we can have(spywares, viruses, worms, etc) but it's not a bad OS(maybe except for Vista :P ) Both OS have their own strong points and weak points. Personally i'm running a dual-boot with Windows and Kubuntu. Why have both OS installed? Simply put it's because it's convenient. When one of the OS fails me the other one helps me solve the problem without having to re-install the OS. I debugged my Windows soooooooo many times with my Linux that i stop counting.

I think all that crap about Windows is the best and Linux sucks (said by Windows fans) or Linux is the best and Windows is shit(said by Linux fans) is just a waste of time. if someone don't like a particular OS it's ok that person isn't stupid for that. You like it you use it, if you don't like it you don't use it. It's as simple as that. No need to start a war over something like that

Thank you for your insightful comment. I'm sure it helps a lot for those folks who are trying to make ZDoom work on Linux.

(If your sarcasm detector has broken, yes, I am being sarcastic. There isn't a lot of reason for you to have made that post.)

Come to a bunch of Linux users complaining that Linux sucks because it's giving you <insert problem here>, and they will do all they can to help you so you change your mind. :P

Linux can have all that too.
The userbase of common users (users that aren't using it on servers and stuff like that.) is (much?) smaller than Windows' tho', so it would be a waste of time when you can go make viruses and shit for Windows where you're definitely gonna succeed in infecting at least a few machines... Oh, and there's also a bunch of viruses and stuff you can base yours on for Windows.

Infecting a Linux based OS would be a waste of time basically because of the file structure and how the root system works. I know it doesn't mean Linux is impervious to viruses and stuff but in my 9 years as Linux user(i started with Ubuntu 6.06 a loooooooooooong while ago ) i never had a single viruses or any malwares/spywares or other crap so for me it's a good security extra even if i don't have any top secret data to protect  How i know the Linux distros i used weren't infected? There is 2 easy ways to detect that. There is many anti-virus and file integrity scanner softwares for Linux and i used some of them since the very first time i used a Linux and they never detected a single virus. The other way is simply the OS behavior itself. Usually when an OS is infected it's slowed down, apps take more time to execute and CPU % usage is really high.

About the reliability of the anti-virus for Linux distros it's the same principle as those for Windows. It's all about trust. What makes you think your AV is doing its job? You think it's doing its job because you trust its reliability and you trust the creator of that AV that's why you are using it. It's the same for Linux distros AV, it's about trust. But no matter which OS you are using if you are visiting "questionable" web sites it won't protect you from your own mistakes.

I had horrible experiences with Linux. Lubuntu is so slow, much slower than Win XP, then annoying messages telling me that my computer mouse is controlled by some kind of malware (?)

That argument doesn't hold. I am using Windows and haven't had a virus infection for 12 years. So does that mean Windows is secure? Certainly not. But I am using some common sense when running stuff I download from the web. The majority of malware doesn't exploit system vulnerabilities but somehow tries to make the user launch some stuff that then can install its evil payload - and as we all know the majority of users is actually stupid enough to fall for such schemes. And sorry, that's just as easy on Linux and MacOSX as it is on Windows because most users would just click through any request for elevated rights.

Oh my, yes. I lost count of how many "one-click installer" games and apps required sudo access to work. I don't think I found more than maybe two apps that were simple extract-and-play executables.

Row hammer is your Linux friend, so it can get your power without sudo...
Also there isn't a need to use user root to make a virus, or your personal data requires root to access it and delete?
It's just a matter of user base. Windows phone doesn't have virus but the user base is like 5%, meanwhile Android has 99% of mobile virus ( and yes, Linux is not os and yes a kernel), but the user base is like 70%...

If Linux systems are so safe, we would never see website attacks since 80% of the servers are running shine kind of linux os

Correct. But tell that to the hardcore Linux and Apple types. They revel in the supposedly inherent superiority of their pet OS over Windows, not realizing what kind of danger they are exposing themselves to.

Especially Mac users are a ripe target for the picking: Almost 10% of the user base which are to a large part ignorant fools with too much money on their hands that believe they do not need protection.
