I can't help noticing the conspicuous absence of The Adventures of Square.

I feel the same way to a degree. Some of the maps (mostly the cyberspace ones) definitely felt awkward even at the time I first played it. Some of the monsters were definitely unfinished, it seems. But given they had to work with basically Dehacked, and not decorate or expanded doom engine of their own, I guess there wasn't much they would have done. I think Hacx 2.0, from what I've seen, drastically fixes a lot of the issues.XCVG wrote:HacX I like the idea of, but it just felt very uninspired to me. It looked okay, but it was clunky and awkward to play compared to Doom and didn't bring anything new to the table like even Heretic did. I feel that HacX could have been a decent game if they'd done more to distinguish it from Doom, but as it stands there's just nothing to keep me interested in it.
