Last time I checked, yeah, sky houses count. Just gotta add lighting.Lava Grunt wrote:From what little I progressed in the early versions of the game (only got to gold tier; there's also that alternate gold tier metal, but back then it was only gold), I can't off the top of my head think of anything that would count as valid housing either. I completely forgot about the Living Loom, yes. You may need to create a couple of worlds before getting one in a chest.
Oh, and also after a bit of exploring I found one magic mirror in my world. Then I proceeded to find two more of them in the ice biome.

The World Generator is all weird for me, 5 worlds in a row all crimson, one ocean biome having around 8 chests. of the 2 floating islands i found both lack a house/treasure, entire biomes generating on top of the crimson and overwriting it...

Jesus fuck the hardmode dungeon in expert mode is kind of overkill.
At least sniper rifles deal quite well with the enemies if you're rocking full shroomite.
oh wait, getting one of those requires killing a lot of skellies in the first place
haha have fun
(by the way, have fun with eclipses post-plantera)

Just noticed this post:
Is this "very nice sword" any better than the Enchanted Sword? 'Cause I already got one of those.Blox wrote:You may want to scout the world early on for a long, straight single-tile crevice into the ground.
If you're lucky you'll find yourself a very nice sword that goes very well with the new shield if you are skilled at moving around.

If its name is Arkhalis(?) and it swings very rapidly while giving off a silly amount of light, then you've found it.

Re: The Terraria 1.3 Update.
Challenge: get to hardmode with a hardcore character on an expert world.
I'm not going to try that. I got my butt handed to me by the lowly eye of Cthulhu four times in a row. In my defense I had stopped playing Terraria at the 1.2 update, so I'm a bit rusty. (I got him in the end, though.)
Found the Falcon Blade by fishing a crate, its range is a bit short but it's otherwise a great weapon for a new game: very fast, continuous swing, and a lot of damage for something in the early game.

Same here, once I learned this update was several months away I stopped playing. And Jesus it was worth the wait.Gez wrote:In my defense I had stopped playing Terraria at the 1.2 update, so I'm a bit rusty. (I got him in the end, though.)
Surviving the spider nests is proving to be very difficult to me, it seems that they boosted the % rate of spawning. I'm going to need some rails to go around my world, because I'm tired of just running and jumping until I find the exact place to go.

I don't think my world has one of these, unfortunately.Blox wrote:If its name is Arkhalis(?) and it swings very rapidly while giving off a silly amount of light, then you've found it.
So, anyway, I cannot for the life of me defeat Skeletron. I've never been good at dodging his attacks, so it's always just been something of a damage race (at least until the arms are gone). Expert Mode only exacerbates this issue, since he's got more health, speed and damage... And defense, looks like; I can barely break the double digits on this guy, and he doesn't seem to lose his defense while spinning anymore. I've got Crimson armor, reforged all my gear to near-perfection (A Legendary Enchanted Sword is good enough for just about anything in non-Expert pre-Hard Mode by itself, really), I go in with a bunch of buffs (food, ironskin, regeneration, thorns, swiftness and nightvision for good measure) and I've set campfires and heart lanterns around the area, but he just relentlessly slaps me to death. It's all very... Agitating.
I guess maybe I'll have to brave the jungle for better gear, then? I could go for Meteor tech, but with how damn fast and tough this guy is now I don't know if kiting with the Space Gun (or Minishark for that matter) is going to work.
Also I had a run-in with Medusa underground. It's okay to look at her as long as she's not hissing, but just to be on the safe side I lured her into a pit and dropped grenades in. No drops (other than money) but I can't imagine that an uncommon spawn (and a legendary being such as this to boot) wouldn't have some kind of unique loot, so maybe it's just a rare drop.

I got a Medusa Head after killing a few Medusas. It's a magic weapon that seems to damage all nearby enemies (range is very short, though).Ethril wrote:Also I had a run-in with Medusa underground. You can do it with lightning boots, frog legs and the shield of Cthulhu.Ethril wrote:I don't know if kiting with the Space Gun (or Minishark for that matter) is going to work.
It sure is tricky though.

Re: The Terraria 1.3 Update.
The only problem i'm having with the expert bosses is the amount of debuffs they give on contact, i'm seriously thinking about going to a hardmode world and getting some anti-debuff items.

Re: The Terraria 1.3 Update.
I'm just gonna have to go down to the underworld for Molten gear, I guess... It just feels weird to me to do that before the Dungeon.
And yeah the debuff spam is annoying, but I've vowed to not bring any Hardmode gear in on this, since that would defeat the purpose of starting from scratch anyway.

Apparently I can record at 60 fps for absolutely free by using the NVEnc feature of OBS.
Cool.
