I gotta be blunt... that scrapped version is a lot more appealing to me than Doom with omg-graphxxx.

Especially if what we're seeing now were to become the standard to replace Doom causing a critical mass loss for support for the huge body of work that has accumulated over the past 20 years.

Doom 4 turning out to be a sucky soulless nostalgia-pander might be the best case scenario.

My only concern about Doom 4/Doom, and truly my ONLY concern, is how it will run on PC. My computer has a bit of trouble running Wolfenstein: TNO. This new Doom is basically using the same engine as far as I'm aware, and that's not good news for me. I have texture pop-in issues, frame rate issues during some sections with a lot going on, and worst of all: stuttering issues. I doubt there is much I can do to fix it besides getting a completely different video card that has more VRAM. I sure hope the idTech engine version being used for Doom 4/Doom is much more optimized. Don't get me wrong, TNO is playable on my current rig, but enjoyable with said issues? It could be much better.

FWIR, Doom's using the newer id Tech 6, so hopefully there be some optimization improvements from its predecessor.

I think you missed the part where WildWeasel said you were being rude. And as one of the site moderators, he owns far more of the forum than you do. And between him, Project Dark Fox, and me, you've got at least three people who don't like your attitude, and I imagine Weasel would like to keep as many people on the forums happy as possible.

So please, stow away the sarcasm, stubbornness and antagonistic/nitpicky attitude. It's not making you look clever at all.
