If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Well no, because then you introduce user-base fragmentation again.
They fragmented hte living hell out of the game and shot it in the foot the moment they cared about modding on consoles. Lets not pretend we're making things worse.

In fact, I'd say the fragmented console modding is utterly and I mean UTTERLY irrelevant, and thats on them. All that matters is what PC folks can do with it.

So what about Mac and Linux support? Is id tech 5 still "exclusive" to mass-consumed platforms?

Sounds like the only real nitpick I have is the muted color scheme but that won't exactly impact the gameplay and you can probably fix that with mods anyway.

Allow me to rephrase this, the overly urine colored hell. There may be blues in the tech base but hell sure seems yellow for being a red hot inferno.

The piss colored hell was supposedly their attempt at making the environment appear hazardous and sulfurous. They might actually change that in the final release, but if the devs are smart I doubt that we will only see one kind of hell.

See, that's what I thought was going on. It seems perfectly reasonable to assume that there's going to be some kind of volcanic activity in hell.

Fair enough but that seems more the style of the surface of Venus than the raging inferno of evil that is hell. It's a minor gripe, anyway, at least they care enough to make it non-linear so just throw in secret areas and you've got me hooked.

I know Doom 3 is the last game they should be drawing inspiration from at this point, but at least when it comes to hell, they should definitely draw some more inspiration from that game. Doom 3 and RoE hell levels definitely got the "evil and chaotic" aspect of the hellish atmosphere right.

I personally like the muted, more natural yellow look - looks like something fallen and wasted, more "Paradise Lost" tragic than the disconnected teenage metalhead aesthetic that we've seen in prior games.

EDIT: Come to think of it, "fall" and "waste" may be a Freudian slip on my part. :V

EDIT2: Then again, notwithstanding desolation and dying there's also the mindless, disconnected meaningless violence aspect of the demonic that is better represented by the other aesthetic. I think I'd be OK either way, though the yellow wastes would definitely be something I'd rather play in for any extended period of time.

*Groan* This is gonna get on my nerves

I didn't hear anybody complaining about the nasty shit in Duke Nukem Forever, but yet again somebody's griping about the violence in Doom. It's always Doom. Vs all the other intensely violent games out there.

Or movies. Don't even get me started on the movies.

People need to give it a rest already. They're getting way too sensitive (and not just in the world of gaming either. -_-)

Well, admittedly none of the "moral guardians" seemed to have words about it, but the gaming community was, for the most part, pretty sickened at what comes off as a rape joke about halfway through (when you meet the twins in the hive, and Duke's response to them being encased in alien tentacle shit is "You're....fucked.")

Anita Sarkeesian from Feminist Frequency also chimed in as saying DooM 4 was too violent.

Yeah.

Mad now. REAL mad. I don't know what she's trying to accomplish, I don't care, and I don't think she's qualified to make informed criticism anymore. >:(

This sort of nanny crap used to be the domain of Westboro Baptist Church types. What the Hell changed so recently, and why?
