If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Doomguy for Super Smash Bros 5?

Post by Jeimuzu73 »

If they can include Snake and his explosives, they can throw this guy in the ring.
Give him Brutal Doom-styled melee moves, an assault rifle or shotgun, a BFG 9000, and a whole horde of demons, and he's set.

Characters from other FPS and Doom mods are welcome to consideration.

A Super Smash-themed Doom project wouldn't be entirely unreasonable. There's enough of a bestiary to support a few characters at least.

Doomguy would be kinda difficult balance wise. Think about it. Doomguy will be the most overpowered character in Smash Bros, and plus, it kinda contrasts against the rest of the "atmosphere" the game has - it'd kinda like a modern version of Marvel Vs Capcom, except more Capcom, less Marvel, and mixed in with Nintendo. The point is, putting a character that's literally been through hell and back multiple times bearing an SG and his fists may be a bit too OP.

It may draw some more people playing Doom ITSELF due to Doomguy being in smash, but unless they find some way to balance him into the rest of the characters, then i dont see why not.

Also, no to "The Mod Which Must Not Be Named"-style moves.

Demo is right. Before we say anything, we have to know if Smash Bros 5 will be anything like Half Life 2 Episode 3 :p

... I feel like the entire meaning of balancing characters, especially when taking them from one genre to an entirely different genre, has flown so far above your head it's now stranded on Jupiter.

Especially since that logic fails in the first place since he'd be with, y'know, Nintendo characters. Especially Kirby; he may be adorable and pink, but it's like an hourly job for him to deal with eldritch abominations that can warp space and time and seek to destroy things ranging from Pop Star to the entire universe.

Because "Mr. Game and Watch" was manufactured by Nintendo. At no point was DoomGuy created by Nintendo. As we know, it was done by the folks at id Software.
