I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally only care so far as knowing what pronouns to use.Project Dark Fox wrote:Seriously, why is this such a big deal to you?

Second this. These day, someone's orientation/gender is their business, not mine, I would just like to know how they prefer to be called.Ethril wrote:I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally only care so far as knowing what pronouns to use.
For myself, I generally refer to randi (and anyone else of undisclosed gender) with the masculine pronoun through years of habit; I'll probably continue until a preference is made clear one way or the other.

is it that hard to refer to someone as "they", in the event that you're unsure of a internet person's gender? i mean, knowing what to call them is good and all, but they is a perfectly functional way to refer to someone in a gender-neutral way.

besides you could just use the username instead of the pronoun no?

Viscera, you're right. Sometimes though, "they" or a username just comes off sounding awkward and I'll just go back to what I know. I hope that doesn't sound insensitive, it's just kinda my default go-to pronoun. I hope no one takes offense, for none is intended.

Is it bad if it amuses me to no end every time people start debating what my gender is? How many years has this been going on for now?

No, I thought I made it clear earlier. My gender is a man or a woman.

Time for Crazy Randi Theories!
Randi is:
-A benign(?) avatar of Nyarlothep.
-An artificial intelligence, namely a Cajun bot that was left running too long
-Jimmy Hoffa's frozen head under an FBI Witness Protection Program alias.
-A consensual mass hallucination that runs a gaming website.

I still do this. So much so in fact that no less than two of the internet communities that I now attend have set up "ShadowTiger" as a gender choice. My options were to be amused, insulted, or to wander off and make myself some form of sammich.randi wrote:Is it bad if it amuses me to no end every time people start debating what my gender is? Rest assured, the sammich was both tuna and delicious.
Though I do have to say, I also like to know what pronoun to use, because there are a few oddball grammatical statements that the word "they" would trip up.

Pretty sure grill, but that was a while back so I don't recall correctly. Randi could very well be a pansexual gender fluid non-binary mocha frappuccino with dual acting hydraulic cylinder and leather grip swiss army knife. But who knows?Onar4241 wrote:...Are you a man or a woman?randi wrote:Hee hee hee. I read that, and all I could think about was grabbing my girlfriends and going out in a pack hunting for some men.

To tell the truth, if I was in the same boots I think I'd be honored when it happened the second time, or at least proud. >> <<ShadowTiger wrote:So much so in fact that no less than two of the internet communities that I now attend have set up "ShadowTiger" as a gender choice.
no idea about the first, though
