[WIP] SmoothWolf (for AFADoomer's WolfTC)

Post by Gifty »

Image

Howdy folks! This is an animation enhancement project for AFADoomer's excellent Wolf3d emulation, smoothing out NPC movement and generally adding razzmatazz to the game. Due to other, more important stuff getting in the way, I've only been able to slowly nurse this thing since around christmas, and having to reverse-engineer the Wolf emulation has made progress a little more slow-going. As a result, this project is still in a pretty early state and some elements aren't yet working exactly the way I'd like them to. BUT. There's more than enough currently to serve as a proof of concept and hopefully get the ball rolling.

>>OOOH, YEAH, CLICK ME, DUNNIT MAKE YA FEEL SO GOOD<<

To play: Simply drag SmoothWolf onto the "consolidated TC" bat that comes with WolfTC.

Would you mind posting a video? (My computer broke, so I can't play it :( )
Also, just speculating, wouldn't it be possible to port this to ECWolf? (Since the actors use a Decorate-type coding very similar to ZDoom's?)

Either way, great job. I'm throwing as much money as I can at my phone's screen right now.

Are you gonna be adding variants for the ss, officer, and the dog too?

Are you sure your G/Zdoom is all up to date? I was getting that myself, but it's since stopped.

Would it be possible to implement this awesomeness into ECWolf? It supports more frames, just like ZDoom

Is that the only message you get? Anything else in that window that appears when you try to run the mod?

Good stuff. Your new nickname is "Gifty-macher".
The only thing really holding it back is the buggy Wolf TC port, though.

Yes, I'm sure that's the problem...

If you've found bugs in the TC, report them in the project thread. Make sure you download the less-than-a-week-old update first.

Otto's full name is actually where "Gifty" comes from, I've just shortened it over the years. :P

I don't think the port is the problem, I just have a shaky understanding of how it works so it's more difficult to code for than regular Zdoom.

Sorry, I didn't know you were still updating it. I'll send those bug catches your way.
