Re: New Member Introductions
Hello there! Name's Genesis. I got to finally register to this forum after lurking for a month now. I been absolutely interested in making some DOOM mods, and referring to this site for helpful tips and guides. Generally always had a passion for creating content from modding my favorite games. This community seems very friendly, and supporting, so i don't feel intimidated joining the site. Hopefully I'll be able to not be so shy and eventually show off some future projects. :3

Re: New Member Introductions
Hello all, my name is Marten van Wier but I go by the username of TDG on this and several other forums on the internet.
I am old enough to remember the original Doom (and Wolfenstein before that) being released but I was on an age that I was not interested in modding/map making and more into just playing games.
I did play Wolfenstein 3D and Doom 1 & 2 but for me First Person Shooters became interesting when titles like Unreal and Half Life were released as they were more story oriented. (don't crucify me for that).
When Zdoom was first released I did play with it a little to see how Doom would handle if it had the gameplay system and freedom of a more modern shooter but I never really got into playing the original Doom games and the various .wads (I did try out a few but it was a passing interest) until I earlier this year decided to try out several of the maps by Laz Rojas such as Wolfendoom and Astrostein.
BTW, thanks to the person who fix the wads to run better on the PC and posted them here as the original files acted sometimes rather unusual. Objects and elements that had been replaced did not always show up and instead the original Doom elements were depicted instead. It is weird seeing a hostile NPC just running over water (apparently this NPC file was used as basis for a water flow sound) or turrets actually bark.
But the highlight for me so far has been the Brutal Doom Hell on Earth Starter Pack as I really like how how the designers seem to have been inspired by Duke Nukem 3D and Half Life regarding level design and the campaign structure.
I have also been giving Blade of Agony a try but damn that game is hard sometimes. I do like all the story building elements though.
I am probably mostly going to be lurking here to see what other people make but if I could make wads I would really like make a Doom version of Areyep's Wolfendoom Doom prequel (yeah, I know it defeats the purpose of that project but I would really would like to see it running on the Doom engine, and after having played BD Starter Pack I would love to see the Doom 'prequel' being expanded like that)
And I would really like to make a Star Trek Original Series wad based on the old Interplay Star Trek games: 25th Anniversary and Judgment Rites.
Ah so many dreams and ambitions

Hey guys, I'm YoBadMama. I hail from the Gulf Coast. The heat here is unbearable, so games have been one of my go-to hobbies since I was a kid. Others being miniature wargames and painting models. I've been playing Doom since I was in first grade whenever the computer was unattended. It was only recently that I discovered that programs for making maps and such for doom wasn't only easily accessible, but also pretty easy once you know your way around it. I'm hoping to start making maps regularly, releasing them or not, to get better and trying out new stuff until I can start making really ambitious map packs to test myself. Maybe one day I'll try learning ACS to make my own mods, or maybe even get into making sprites for my maps. That would be fun. Really excited to be a part of the community that I've visited for years!

for editing sprites, sounds, and more, use Slade3. You can download it off the internet.
For Maps, Look up Doom Builder.

I've already dabbled in some mapmaking with Doom Builder, and I've even released a map here on the forum.

As for Slade, I have it downloaded, but I'll need to watch some videos about it and read some "how to" pages because I've no idea how it works at the moment, just that I can open WAD files and see sounds, sprites, textures, and code, but I've no idea how to mess with it without setting (G)ZDoom on fire.

Hello ZDoom community! I'm new here.
Hello guys I have just registered and I would like to introduce myself to this forum.
I am experimenting with making maps and I am working on a mod (or just a map) for Doom II and so far the development is going good. The reason why I am known as RockyDoctor65 or RokkiDoktor65 is because I wanted to combine 2 words for a screen name, Can you give me some advice on this forum?

I wish to create an awesome mod. I have been developed my mod for some years. this work is progressed by only myself. my mod will be uploaded soon.
usually I like to drawing pictures like cartoon characters and game characters and composing some musics and sounds
as I am serving for millitary service in korea, I only can work on drawing and creating story lines and soon I will be discharged from the service after four months so that I will be more active in this community. I am feeling so exciting for this!
