Hey, I joined a little while back, but I didn't notice this thread. Hey. I'm Trusty McLegit, and I have been playing DOOM for about 5 years now. I've only begun modding DOOM in the last few months, and I now have a very good understanding of making maps, and a somewhat adequate understanding of custom weapons, monsters, etc. Right now my goal is to learn ACS so my repertoire can be complete. I have yet to release any mods, though I hope to soon :D

This seems like a dead thread (Edit: my bad, not a dead thread), but I just thought I'd post a little about myself.

I'm a gaming enthusiast and a software engineer. Doom was practically 80% of my childhood gaming experience. The first time I played it was on my cousin's Celeron back in 2000 when we didn't have the hardware required to run some of the more modern games at the time. I remember I was so bad at it, that I couldn't even get past the first episode on the easiest difficulty. Couple of year later when I was more experienced with first-person shooters like Half-Life and Thief II, I picked it up again and managed to finish Doom and Doom II.

Quite recently, I attempted running Doom again on a Windows machine using DOSBox for nostalgia sake. It simply didn't run the way it was supposed to. This was when I took to looking up source ports online. So far, I've used Doomsday, Chocolate Doom, Doom Legacy, Risen 3D, ZDaemon, ZDoom, and GZDoom. The only reason I stuck with ZDoom/GZDoom was the amazing number of mods and community support available. I'm still learning how the various aspects of Doom modding work, but the experience has been a lot of fun. Currently, I'm trying to beat Final Doom (never played it before because it didn't seem worth its asking price) which I managed to pick up in a clearance sale at a local store.

Although I have made a few experimental games in the past, I've never really taken to the modding community and making mods of my own. Perhaps Doom is a good place to start since I've heard that the engine is fairly easy to work with. I also dabble in producing electronic music which I post on SoundCloud under the alias "Positronistic".

I made an account because I lost access to my old account due to me losing access to my old email since... real life shenanigans are at it again.
So I tried to PM one of the administrators but I can't seem be able to PM anybody until... as I manage to catch, I make at least one post?
So yeah, Hi.

Just remembered about zDoom the other day. I had used it on Windows XP back in 2007, and was pleasantly surprised to see an Ubuntu package. Great work!

Altough I have made the incredible amount of 2 posts, I thought I might as well introduce myself here.

Im Laser Pineapple, a 14 year old that likes to make mods for doom and make random stuff on famitracker.

Im probably going to finish and publish more zdoom and vanilla mods in the future. Hopefully

Hey guys! My name is Awez (however I sometimes go as Awestube), and I am an experienced artist and animator. I have been animating for about 6 years now, it's basically all I really do. Sometime last month, I was looking through my games on steam until I found Doom II installed, after that I was hooked! After playing through the game about two times, I decided to check if there was any mods for this game and to my surprise, I found tons. So lately I have been downloading and playing tons of different wads, completely ignoring anything I need to actually do. Eventually, I downloaded Slade3 and I decided to attempt to try out making my own mods, however I have basically no knowledge of coding more than some very simple python, so I mostly just downloaded different mod and reskinned them and added new sounds and changed very simple variables. So after some time of messing around with that, I decided that the best way of learning is to join the forums (which I just discovered through DemonSteele, fucking amazing btw). So yeah, I hope to have a good time and meet all of you fine people!

I've been lurking here for a few years now, I made an account because I want to learn about mapping. I'm currently working on my first map and learning GZDoomBuilder along the way.
