Im glad the proper steps were taken. Just think beforehand. Because something is public doesnt mean they want it publically shown. Good on you though for fixing this though.

Um... but that's the case anywhere on the net. I still don't get your outrage at this issue or why it even needed to be asked about. If I can find it on a 5 second Google search, it's not private information and the people who don't want that info public need to take proper action with the people who ARE making it public knowledge.chronoteeth wrote:Stuff like this was non asking. You asked spacemarinescum only after I had made the initial post too. Dont use that as material against what is essentially "Because they publically post it meaning they should TOTALLY be ok with it having it in the limelight".
Edit: Will head to private IMs after this.

The requirement of joining the group has been changed from needing modding knowledge, to instead just being a member of the Doom community (Brutal Doom doesn't count)

Re: ZDoom Forum Skype Group
just for future reference, the "if it's somewhere on the net it doesn't have the right to be private" issue is kinda ehhh because if you didn't have their url in the first place, you wouldn't care to run a google search of it. sure, hypothetically speaking you could very well find their blog by running a search but realistically speaking, the web is a massive sea of information and the chances of you finding their url without any mention of it prior are extremely small so for all intents and purposes, their blog was private. besides, if someone outside of the forums were to happen upon their blog, they would probably close out of the tab because it's not relevant to their interests; they won't care at all. when they made the blog, they had exactly this in mind so when their url is posted say, on a forum where most of the users share interests with this person, there's a bit of an issue here. thankfully, this has been addressed and rectified.

I guess my name should be removed since I am no longer a part of this.

Re: ZDoom Forum Skype Group
Sorry, if I want a private blog I'll MAKE it private. I highly encourage others to do the same. That's why such private blog places exist. You're far better off treating anything you post on the net as public unless you specifically restrict who can see it.DenisBelmondo wrote:just for future reference, the "if it's somewhere on the net it doesn't have the right to be private" issue is kinda ehhh because if you didn't have their url in the first place, you wouldn't care to run a google search of it. sure, hypothetically speaking you could very well find their blog by running a search but realistically speaking, the web is a massive sea of information and the chances of you finding their url without any mention of it prior are extremely small so for all intents and purposes, their blog was private. besides, if someone outside of the forums were to happen upon their blog, they would probably close out of the tab because it's not relevant to their interests; they won't care at all. when they made the blog, they had exactly this in mind so when their url is posted say, on a forum where most of the users share interests with this person, there's a bit of an issue here. thankfully, this has been addressed and rectified.
Also, I wonder how many of the people making these arguments have filed suits against companies for discriminating against employees due to their blog content. Because again I'm be surprised if a potential employer is going to think that same way about anything a potential employee posts.

You're one of those special people on the planet who forget that there isn't only one time zone, aren't you.demo_the_man wrote:Its great, 1 thing though, please don't call at midnight, it does get annoying when you are trying to get a little shut-eye

That call was started by me, and it was only around 3 or 4 PM in the afternoon on my enddemo_the_man wrote:Its great, 1 thing though, please don't call at midnight, it does get annoying when you are trying to get a little shut-eye
(If you knew what the call was for, you might be sad you missed it)
If it still bothers you though, I've added the following to the OP:
The Zombie Killer wrote:Note: If the Skype message notification sound, or the fact that the group may have calls every now and then bothers you,
then you can type "/alertsoff" in the Skype chat to disable notifications for the group. "/alertson" will turn them back on again.
