Why not just DL it and play it? Anyway I would suggest waiting for the weekend as that's my next intended update time...

Bc maybe i want to show this mod to friends or whomever and if there was a youtube video it's very easy to spread what this mod is and what it does....really i think it mainly helps you IMO and you should be given attention for all your hard work!

scrolling skies with multi layers YAY!

now the mod includes multi-layered scrolling skies rather than the 3 boring skies set for each ep. now different maps within the episodes have scrolling skies to selected fit the atmosphere of the map...
thanks be to enjay for showing me how to use mapinfo to get this done.

Hey I'm a big Quake fan, just registered to say you've done an amazing job.

Some feedback on your mod:

-Water texture is replacing a liquid that causes damage, either slime or lava, texture needs to be changed accordingly.
-Increase double-barreled shotgun damage.
-Increase nail gun's rate of fire.
-Replace all appropriate sounds to quake sounds, ammo pickup, secret found, player jumping, falling, taking damage, etc.
-Replace the keys with quakes keys and runes!
-Change quad damage model to glowing blue/purple, add quad damage screen effect.
-Fix weapon recoil not returning to default position after firing.
-Add option to disable visual recoil.
-Increase brightness of red button sprite when activated.

Suggestions:
-Release your weapons and quake sound effects as a standalone mod that can be used with any ZDOOM game

and/or

-Release your weapons and sound effects with some brand new levels created by you (imo Heretic level design is a bit bland, plus they don't do your mod justice)

I'm quite enjoying this so far. I love Heretic so it's always nice to see someone else giving the game some love back. :)

I do have one suggestion though. The recoil is a bit annoying for me. I often play on my netbook with keyboard only while travelling and I also play a lot on my TV with a controller. Having to use a "centre view" key/button periodically during play is irksome and just detracts rather than adds anything to the shooting. The kickback and recentre mechanic as shown in, for example, Smooth Doom is much more elegant (for me anyway).

Other than that, I'm loving it. Thank you. :)

can you please do a single PK3 instead of spliting between 4 files? If you can't, it's okay too... I'm just asking if possible or not.

the mod is now finished.
that was intended as the final release.
I am not taking any further suggestions of into any kind of consideration.
it will not be changed.
its done.
I'm moving on.

a few points to address:

as I am sick and tired of repeating by now: the weapons power and recoil is intentional to work with the heretic maps/monsters to create gameplay balance. sorry if it is crappy on portable devices but its's not designed for them. I did it with wsad and freelook mouse in mind. the idea is that correcting the recoil with the mouse is a subtle 'handicap' that helps balance gameplay so you don't always have the upper hand.
oh, and as for smooth doom being 'more elegant'. this is not smooth doom. if you want it to be then you're going to be disappointed aren't you? not even sure why you're comparing this to a mod that is essentially a smoothed up version of doom with a bunch of poached sprites (including a fair amount of my own work truth be told) if you prefer it. I suggest you go play it :roll:

I'm pretty sure the 'damaging liquid' is not water but heretic's grey slime... if it is not then please show me a screenie of where you mean...

quad damage: is not a model it is a sprite (don't know what you mean there...) and it is fine as it is. I have used the doom-style 'Q' as it is quite stylized and stands out rather nicely in game. also quad damage screen effect is there. the screen takes on a blue sheen when the quad is active...

maps: I have said repeatedly over the years that I am no mapper. wouldn't even know where to start. and being such a perfectionist I'd never be able to release them as I'd constantly want to keep changing them. If someone wants to make heretic maps with this mod in mind please do and post them here. that's more than welcome!

sounds: the sounds are fine. this is a quake mod for heretic not quake itself. yeah I've added a few new sounds to the weapons and items as is vital but If I go changing too much the heretic sounds remaining are going to stand out like a sore thumb. some of heretic's sounds are rather similar to quake's and as such this is fine.

pack format: sorry it will remain in four parts. nashgore is its own mod (try it in vanilla doom) and I feel it should be kept as such. then you have the mod itself. the others are separate because you might not want to run with the map textures and the fix of said textures is separate so as not to step on sgt. shiver's toes with his add-on.

so there it is: done...

...the only changes from now on will be compatibility as zdoom code changes and things get depreciated...

I always say 'have a plan, stick to it' this meets my original specification and then some, so I'm done now.

Wow. All I made was a small comment and made one small comparison about one small component of another mod. I said I enjoyed your mod and I thanked you for it. I realise this is not Smooth Doom. Chill.

smoothdoom pisses me off. So its just one of the things that press my buttons I guess...
