Gifty, are you working on the update these days? Or has it been delayed indefinitely?

Re: Smooth Doom [WIP 2.0 TEST? WOWIE ZOWIE]
Here is one I updated to work with Smoothdoom, I haven't tried it with the WIP 2.0 Test version yet, but it works with previous Smoothdoom releases.Gen5lock131 wrote:Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make Smooth Doom compatible with Reikall's Voxels (viewtopic.php?f=46&t=58340&hilit=reikall) ?
Or is it a lost cause? There seem to be some incompatibilities in regards to the explosive barrels and the plasma gun.

Re: Smooth Doom [WIP 2.0 TEST? WOWIE ZOWIE]
Hmm sorry in advance if it's a dumb question but I seem to remember Smooth Doom to have monster variants (especially for zombies) in an older version. Going off this video video it may seem I'm right (since the list of mod doesn't include some smooth monster randomizer) since the link goes back here as well. However I can't find it in the options anywhere. Was it removed at some point ? Is it still possible to download the version that had those if so ? Is it an option I haven't seen for some reason ? Thanks in advance everyone !

They were removed because smoothing out even the core monster set is an overwhelming task for one person. Try digging up an older build if you want them, but you'll be missing a lot of the more modern improvements.

Ah makes sense ! Is there any plan to add those back later on or a monster replacement project that have those same vanilla-inspired demons smoothed ? I personally preferred those over variable deaths so even if it's gonna be from another mod I'm fine with it. If there's no smooth alternate monster I'm fine with it too, it's an amazing project to begin with Thanks for the answer by the wayacridAxid wrote:They were removed because smoothing out even the core monster set is an overwhelming task for one person. Edit : For completeness' sake, what features would I be missing on ? Because there's a lot of features I don't use in the current version. As said before I don't mind not having extra deaths animation, weapon and monster rebalance, Doom 64 graphics and so on I'm here only for vanilla 60 FPS gameplay !

Hi! Suffice to say, I love Smooth Doom. It inspired me to do Smooth Blood (https://www.moddb.com/mods/smoothblood) and even Smooth Duke (https://forums.duke4.net/topic/11085-sm ... e-weapons/).
Today I noticed that Smooth Doom doesn't have smooth SS troopers. So... did anyone ever start doing any work? If no, I'd love to make full smooth spritesheet for that enemy .
As a proof of concept, here's SS walking:

That is intentional:Dzierzan wrote:Today I noticed that Smooth Doom doesn't have smooth SS troopers. So... did anyone ever start doing any work? If no, I'd love to make full smooth spritesheet for that enemy .
Maybe it could be added as an option that is default off?Gifty wrote:Yeah, updating the nazis would have ruined the joke, so I left them untouched.Arthropleura wrote:I don't know. I think updating the wolf 3D sprites to have smoother animations would spoil the throwback feel of the bonus levels.I didn't knew Nazis count as bosses.

Now that looks incredible. Waiting for stuff to be done.Dzierzan wrote:Hi! Suffice to say, I love Smooth Doom. It inspired me to do Smooth Blood (https://www.moddb.com/mods/smoothblood) and even Smooth Duke (https://forums.duke4.net/topic/11085-sm ... e-weapons/).

Intentional? Doesn't make sense if you ask me. They are part of Doom 2 bestiary and it looks wrong seeing them not smooth when everything else is. Now I am not sure if I wanna finish SS if it's not gonna be added...

Like Wolfenstein 3D levels in Doom make sense. These levels and Nazi SS as well as Commander Keens are the easter eggs, not the part of the regular gameplay.Dzierzan wrote:Intentional? Re: Smooth Doom [WIP 2.0 TEST? WOWIE ZOWIE]
Smooth Doom is supposed to be used with all WADs which support more or less vanilla gameplay, right? If so, I believe I've seen a WAD which used SS nazi as regular enemies. I kinda understand "easter egg" reason, but this is only true to vanilla Doom. Hence why I believe this project requires smooth Nazis... maybe Keen as well.
If the answer is still no, then I guess I've got nothing to contribute then.

The other issue with the SS is that they are often replaced in maps that have custom content (monsters or decorations), so any mod that touches them breaks this. As a result, most monster mods leave the SS alone.

No one is stopping you from completing your work and distributing it as a variant, as I did when I implemented Fast Weapon Switching.
EDIT: Note that no one responding to you is the mod author, they're just other forum members. We don't know how the author feels about it; people here are just drawing their own conclusions.
