Re: [Boom] Stomper Beta 1 - Needs your testing help!
i'd say, i played this beta as well nicely! BTW, like weasel said, it's pretty weird about pistol uses the same sound with shotgun.
i know it was inspired by chaingunner's firing sound, but having a one-same sound but different kind of weapons that only using it would be boring to hear in gameplay. i just thought zombieman was using a shotgun after hearing that fire sound, though. i would recommand the doom64's shotgun sound if you're looking for some sound with same taste.
otherwise, i hope you can find something good sprite for chainsaw among with new added weapons and other sounds to add!

Nope, chainsaw and sounds will not be changed. I like them as they are plus the original author would probably throw a fit over sound changes, to better steer clear off that territory. I am only meant to finish this wad, not change anything else in it.
To explain it further, in a bunch of mails I exchanged with him before, he told me to not make drastic changes, or any changes that would change things as he saw it fit. So that does include sounds.

Re: [Boom] Stomper Beta 1-B - Needs your testing help!
Update 1-B is out.
It does those things:
- Fix bugs mentioned before by Caleb123
- Map29 has been rebalanced even on UV, not anything below UV is bound to be half as easy but still hard (Great Ragequit of 2014 (c) Whoo)
- Chaingun/Shotgun were sped up by few frames (suggestion from tarnsman on stream)
- Map11 has a proper exit now instead of a monty python holy grail style ending (c) tarnsman
- Map06 includes more rocket ammo and a non-secret rocket launcher now
- Map07 has more health and more radsuits, primarly for coop balance purposes
- Map05 and map08 have more health.

I'm still curious who is behind those sprites- I've seen them a couple of times but never really looked into them!

Nmn's responsible for the sprites (except map29 endboss) and sounds, it's his megawad, i'm just the dude finishing it for him because he's my close friend, waiting for Xaser to get his map20 done which will have a special feature in it.FuzzballFox wrote:I'm still curious who is behind those sprites- I've seen them a couple of times but never really looked into them!

O: I see~ Is there somewhere one can get those weapon sprites? Is permission allowed if credit is given?

Only in this wad, and yes, his old textfile with the unfinished beta stated that yes you can use the resources as long as credit is provided, and that hasn't changed.FuzzballFox wrote:O: I see~ Is there somewhere one can get those weapon sprites? Is permission allowed if credit is given?

Re: [Boom] Stomper Restoration Project - Demo included!
I agree. Sounds so weird to have a shotgun sound to a Pistol and Chaingun heh.wildweasel wrote:This seems kinda cool, but I really feel like these awesome new weapon graphics need to have some more awesome sounds to go with them. It just feels weird that three of the weapons sound like the original Doom shotgun.

Re: [Boom] Stomper Beta 1-C - Needs your testing help!
Release of Beta 1-C which will be probably the last Beta 1, considering DWMegawadClub will probably test it for a month. If they do it, then Beta 2 which will bring all those fine adjustments to gameplay and visuals, push it much further quality-wise.
Anyway here's the notes:
- Map07/08/12/21 got their visuals upgraded a bit.
- Map29 has a SERIOUS gameplay change, ITYTD/HMP have far as less much spawning monsters and... completely omits the second half of the map straight to endboss. So those who want a SERIOUS challenge, will play this map on UV.
- Guns and their sounds were seperated into StomperGuns.wad as per Caleb13s request.

Well well where shall i begin
First of all the maps are splendid, challenging, non-linear, full of surprises and a fairly good progression in difficulty from level 1-28. After that things gets a bit ugly (for me it gets ugly ). Because there is a gigantic jump (more like an inter-galactic jump )in difficulty in level 29. You weren't kidding when you said map 29 has a serious gameplay change
Overall that's an excellent wad with good challenges on all maps and i recommend this wad for those who loves progressive challenges and a big hard finish

Well thanks for playing, Stomper's currently entering the visual polish phase and mostly gameplay tuning, chances are that DWMegawadClub may be playing it and give me massive fedback. After that, it'll be the last stretch of testing unti late October if Xaser finishes his DAMN CRANTIME MAP aka map20 in time.Endless123 wrote:Well well where shall i begin

Ha that's why Map 20 only has a "CRANTIME" message thing on the floor

Amazing work, and must say, bonus points for the intense Icon of Sin. Probably the most badass final map ever in a Doom wad.

Thanks for the kind words, some people may find map30 dissapointing but it is exactly how Nmn intended it to be, in his old document he left with the unfinished beta. So i'm just restoring what was missing and I had to cut out certain maps (and replace them with new stuff/other unused stuff and finish it) as per Nmn's list of things to do from back December last year. With map29 on other hand, I took an unfinished and an unbalanced map, extended it, tuned it into a Deus Vult II style map (because I love Deus Vult II and always wanted to make some sort of a tribute to it) on UV difficulty, the lesser difficulties are shorter on that map.Ribo Zurai wrote:Amazing work, and must say, bonus points for the intense Icon of Sin. Currently DWMegawadClub is playing through Stomper until September, they provide all kinds of feedback, visual, gameplay etc. AND hopefully, the wad will be a lot more polished when Beta 2 hits the mark in mid-september. After that, it should be all fine tuning and stuff until map20 gets completed (it will, don't worry, in time ;p).

I hate to bump a thread that's a year old, but the download link seems broken! :X Is there an alternate download available?
