I just noticed that it also reflects hitscans, so the best thing would be to only reflect the projectiles from Caco's, Knights, Barons and Arachnotrons. The damage given from the reflect to the monster should be the same as given to you. Forget the 2.5% increase, that would be dangerous on UV and Nightmare :o
Not if the shield increase defense rate by the same % while it's in use. Another thing would be to make, for example the Imps, vulnerable to their own fireball. Since it's something that can be done with the "DamageFactor" in the player's actor definition i guess the same could be done with monsters since they are also actors.

Something like this

DamageFactor "Flame", 2 <==== If i understood the wiki correctly this would make the actor taking twice the normal damage from the "Flame" damage type. For a small % like 2.5 % i don't know what the number should be though.

When I looked around for the first release it sounded a bit simple, but I have tried v0.9 and so far I like it quite a bit. It just feels right to me, with the 16-bit style effects and sounds, and the combat mechanics are fun.
My only nitpick is that I use the fullscreen HUD, size 11 IIRC, and I had to reduce it to 10 in order to see any of the interface. Not a major thing, but it'd be nice if it can display the same information in size 11, just to not have to swap it around when playing this mod.

The sound effects and the sword wave...oh, someone seems to still remember Magic Sword! I love that game, and seeing that I am not the only guy remembering it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Just out of curiosity I tried it with Hexen. Everything works except enemy drops and the inventory that doesn't show (but items can still be used if you can blindly get the item you want). Not surprising, but it also isn't surprising that it feels quite right in there, not bad at all. Would you consider a small Hexen patch for a future release?

Anyway, pretty good mod so far, I'll keep an eye on this thread from now on.

Weeellll, if you consider a Hexen patch it'd only be fair if you did something for Heretic too. ;)

I'll look into making GMOTA Hexen/Heretic compatible AFTER I finish adding new shit.

Fortunately/unfortunately I have a lot of cool shit I plan on adding, including possibly adding a new character

Lord Blaz will be getting a crossbow eventually. No I got something special planned for the second character, another armored hero, the games he starred in were a big part of my childhood, I won't spoil his name but I'll at least leave you guys with this: The theme of the places where he learns to be a better Knight, from his third game, if I were to use just about any tune from his first, it'd be a dead giveaway.

I should point out I'm not even working on him as of right now, I've just been thinking of additional quirks I can add to him, work on him won't start til Lord Blaz has all of his items implemented. Here's what's left for Blaz:

three more subweapons
two more spells
two replacements for the power sword
and two replacements for the staff, one of which being the crossbow.

along with some more gameplay refinements, and I eventually need to look into getting player sprites made for Lord Blaz and our mystery hero, because while Zandronum compatibility isn't possible, I have played GMOTA in Co-op in GZDoom, it's a hassle but it was well worth it

I've never actually played any of those games, but I can see how it'd definitely be a good draw for stuff for this mod.

He has a funny-looking helmet though. Makes me think of the armor from Elemental Gimmick Gear (even though that's a Dreamcast game and thus much more recent).

Oh so you know who I'm talking about then?

His sword won't be as strong as Lord Blaz's, and it'll only strike once per swing, but on the plus side, his blade will have a much longer reach, you'll be able to swat at monsters from a surprisingly comfortable distance for a melee weapon.

Just asking, did you take notice about my shield idea earlier?

I do, but again I've never played the games. Might give 'em a shot though; they seem fairly interesting. Lord knows I have too many games to play right now, however. .-.
