Heretic is a sleep aid. Hexen is too frustrating. E2 is awesome, except for the lackluster texturing. We could make E2 so awesome that it would blow people's minds.Ixnatifual wrote:Heretic really ticks me off. Unless you replace most of the textures and sprites with good-looking ones, please do E2 followed by E3

I went for the Strife Teaser. We've seen many, many Doom levels. I think it would be quite a novelty to see some really classy editing done on a different game - and one that is almost untouched by editing hands at that.
Moreover, I think Strife is the most enjoyable non-Doom Doom engined game, so getting some re-done levels using Zdoom goodness would be great.
What's more, you could even add in the Doom shotgun at some point. For me, Strife's main drawback was that it didn't have any weapons that (as far as I am concerned) came close enough to being as satisfying as the Doom shotty. Strife really needed a shotgun feeling kind of weapon IMO. Without it, the weapons may have been quite original and good fun, but the weapon set as a whole was missing something - specifically a shotgun.
Doom Episode 2 is a close second for me though. Especially if Dochist is on the team.
Oh, and that Baker guy. You know the one. I'm pretty sure he'd be able to do some really cool Ep 2 how it should have been kind of stuff too.

That would rather defeat the objective of it being a community project thoughNmn wrote:Interest and motivation are different tough. You need a strong reliable team.

I'd also like to see E2 done, though I'm afraid I probably wouldn't take part. I'm already working on a bunch of remade E2 levels for another project, and I don't want to end up doing the same thing twiceEnjay wrote:Doom Episode 2 is a close second for me though. I agree, but it would need the Strife guy's hands on it or it would be out of place.Enjay wrote: What's more, you could even add in the Doom shotgun at some point.
Also agreed.. Although Strife is a good game, I don't really like it's arsenal (I don't think it has enough weapons in it. Plus, like Enjay said, there's a lack of satisfaction with them).Enjay wrote:What's more, you could even add in the Doom shotgun at some point. @Nightmare - I can imagine what project you mean
... although I am not sure about it, nevertheless:
@Topic: Actually I'd really like to to a ZDoom'ification of "Shores of Hell" because I have incredible ideas in mind for this, but to be honest: We have two big problems, the first one is that the real talented mappers in this community already worked on both Community efforts and I think, that they finally need some time to spend effort on their own projects once more, same to me, and the second big problem is the fact, that a community project just works, if it is based on a innovative idea. The ZDCMP Take 1 was great, it flowed fast and everything worked perfect because all the participants were 100% working on this thing. Take 2 has huge problems to even get finished at all as you can see, because the idea isn't new and it seems that no one dares to work on the successor to Take 1. If you take a look at KDIZD - the 3rd community project - you have once more a new and innovative idea and that's why many persons worked on it and it got that succesful although it isn't even finished yet (but it will be, because it's just amazing and no one will let this go down). If I start a new "ZDoom'ification" project after the Episode 1 release (for example Episode 2, Heretic E1 or Doom2 etc.), it will be hard to keep interest on this, because all the mappers know, what has to be done, how much work it is and how long it will take, and don't forget: They even know, what it will look like at the end and that won't be something new at all, and that's why the second job won't ever have this success.
To put it in a nutshell: After this project, I won't start another community event, I will continue working on my own projects and give everyone else here the chance to do so. And after about half or one year, I will come back to this though, plan a new innovative idea and we all can get back together working on the 4th community project
