An as-is release has come out for Desire Driven. Read more here: http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=50336

I've teased pieces of my Visual Novel engine enough, so it's about time you guys got to experience it firsthand. This is the demo version of a game that I will, in all honesty, probably not finish. However, my sharing this is more of me sharing a tech demo than a demo for a future game.

Controls are as simple as pie. All you really need to do is press "Activate" on basically everything in the room and you'll get a response of some sort. The game should have full 16:9 and 5:4 support (*cough* Nash *cough*) right off the bat (Although through a cheap method). Be sure to set the "Text Speed" CVAR to a speed of your liking.

In hindsight, it felt rude to keep the scripts from you all, so I've uploaded a new version that contains the uncompiled scripts in it. Also, see my Visual Novel engine thread in the Resources forum for a breakdown of what's what.

@ThongLover: Ants. Keeping us from going places since the Earthbound series.

Anyways, I updated the game to coincide with the Visual Novel thread in Resources by including the uncompiled scripts.

A while back, I started making my Desiredriven Doom demo into a legit port of the game Desiredriven to Doom. I cleaned up the code, added a bunch of new features (Pressing SPACE while a message is typing will immediately display the whole message, etc.), added cutscenes; all of that. After I finished porting Scene 5 of 19 total, I felt as though I should do something original, not just a port of an already finished game, so the code was ripped out for a different, in-progress project. However, what I have done is something that I think is worth sharing, but I don't want to hand out the WAD yet (I want to use the updated code for my own project first), so I captured the entirety of what I made and am sharing it with you all in this thread. I will release this alongside my other project in the distant, distant future. Enjoy it for what it is, though! It's something Doom has never seen before.

I say that this would be fun to toy around with, and it's pretty neat! The only complaint is that the rapid noise when each letter appears bothers me alot. Could you perhaps include an option where it doesn't make that noise until the entire statement is done being "typed"? Anyway, I truly haven't seen anything like this. :)

I'm interested in the shrimp recipe.. but the link given seems to be dead.

Do you still have it by any chance?

Thanks for the words, guys. Some of the code for this engine was publicly released, and you can take a look at a breakdown of it here: http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=38215

@Cyberdemon2006: Recipe was added to a spoiler in the main post.
